I like most any anime. Romance between the characters is always a plus. Really violent ones are cool too.

One thing that I look for is the main characters not being little kids. I'm 20, I feel like a loser watching an anime where the main characters are all 5 years younger than me.

I like action and adventure animes like DBZ. I like romance-comedies like Chobits, and DearS. I like violent manga like Battle Royale. Martial Arts certainley interests me, considering that I am a martial artist! I do like a little perviness, fanservice and some ecchiness for comic relief, I mean, who dosen't?! I would love to see any anime with a hot chickie in it!^^ I love to see the cute and innocent chicks, 'cause they attract me more than any other type of character. I've never really watched Shojo titles, and have stuck to Shonen for quite awhile. Anybody recommmend a Shojo title with Romance, comedy, ecchiness, and some school life? I'd like to try something new and enter shojo territory.

Actually I like almost every genre of anime even ahem the one that starts with an H, you know what I mean. Anyway as long as the anime is good then I am all for it. I'll watch it.
My favorite anime in action, of all time is Black Cat, although the manga is way better.
Next for romance is Kanon 2006. I like the animation and the story, its the only anime that brought me to tears.

So have you seen Paranoia Agent? That's quite a good one, albeit, strange. Then there's Perfect Blue, and perhaps Paprika (I haven't seen this one yet) all directed by Satohi Kon. They're quite mature for their subject matter.

And perhaps, Millenium Actress... It's all about the girl and her chase.

Romance, comedy, action, drama, perverted (as in ECCHI - not hentai). Well of course I don't mind a little magic and unrealistic things here and there but I don't categorize that as different genres...

I mean, what I like the most are romantic comedies, and if there's a bit of magic in it, then sure I don't mind. (Am I even making any sense?)

Generally, I watch most of the animes; it depends on the storyline and X-factor that the anime can offer for my viewing pleasure. However, combination one or more of these elements that me make avoid/loathe watching it:

Merchandizing anime - Most of them have shallow storyline and too much SFX. Not to mention sex appeal.
Sport - I rather waste my time watching the sport news/live coverage than watching it
Ecchi - Too much of panty shots or juggling boobs will be give me nightmares >_> However, I can tolerate anime(s) with min. dosage.
Bishie - Let's say it's not my cup of tea
School Drama - Erk...
