No it doesn't. "PWN" a neologism, and you just gave a backronym of it.

Look at your keyboard. If you have a QWERTY keyboard, you'll see that the letters "O" and "P" are right next to each other. Some bad typist long long ago hit the "P" instead of the "O" when trying to rapidly type "OWNED". His friends likely started aping his mistake, and it propagated through the internet as a meme.

It is used in the same fashion "owned" is, yep Manhattan, you hit the nail on the head. To me, it means the same thing also, although I never use it myself, I would much rather type out the word correctly. I really think the word pwned is annoying because people use it so much, whatever, I don't even say owned because once I boast about doing good in a game it tends to jinx me.

LEts give MY definition.

Pwned/Pwn is a typo of Own that like...became big for he did what I do when I make typos...make them into something. So NOW we all say PWNED, or PWN.

BUT...the BEST is...

OHWNED

Another question:

Do you pronounce it Pawned? or Powned?

People who were around when it first started tell me it was always "pawned" but that retards changed it to "powned."

??

I say it's pronounced Powned. Pawned sounds dumb as hell.

doesn't matter how you pronounce it, it sounds stupid either way

Pawned. What can I say, I'm a classic sort of guy.

I always said it as "powned" since...well, it's a typo of "Owned" so I figured it was appropriate.

It means owned I think.

Hmm "pawned" for me has a slightly different origin, the pawns go first and justly so, get completely annihilated. Thus when I've just wiped the floor with someone, I'd say "pawned". I don't particularly use "owned" much.

Pawning is different form owning. Pawning is when you sell something that you owned at some point in time to a pawnshop. If you say pawn, expect a pawnshop to be involved.
