Here's the deal:
I'm all into horror movies,I really enjoy watching them ^_^
Mostly I enjoy in those kind that can scare the **** out of me,but those are rare...
Anyway,I want everyone who watches it to recommend me some, cuz now I'm out...
I wont post every movie I have, but every recommendation is welcome...
It doesn't need to be horror,it could be just a bit scary, but good...
Anyway, for the sake of keeping this thread alive,I'll have to make one condition:
If you post, don't post just name of the movie, write down (or copy from somewhere else) movie storyline, because one word replies aren't allowed, and I really do need some recommendation...
So,let's keep this thread alive, shall we?
At least for a week >.>

Oh...no need for storyline,I just realized that it's much work for some people...
Just write down about what that movie is...that would be easier ^_^

Personally, I haven't seen this one but a few of my friends have and they seemed to enjoy it (not sure if they enjoyed the movie itself or the strange game of Gouno they were playing at the time but oh well).

So the movie is House of 1000 Corpses, directed by Rob Zombie and imdb has this to offer: In "House of 1000 Corpses", two young couples take a misguided tour onto the back roads of America in search of a local legend known as Dr. Satan. Lost and stranded, they are set upon by a bizarre family of psychotics. Murder, cannibalism and satanic rituals are just a few of the 1000+ horrors that await.

*** To know more about Gouno and it's invention in the Australian summer of 2005, feel free to PM me lol.

My comments on the movies are somewhat helpful...

Disturbia wasn't that bad, but not scary enough. They could have made it scary-er...; i don't think it's out on DVD yet, but i saw it in theaters...

Ring/Ringu, Ring2/Ringu2- good movies, they're ok....scary enough to make my scared of my tv...lol i didn't watch it for a week...; the movie is soo popular. u prob already seen it or at least heard of it.

The Shinning was really good.. I read the book too so it wasn't that bad; the movie's really old... u prob already seen it

It- that Clown gave me nightmares i ran to my Bf's house and stayed with him for weeks; The movie it's self has been out forever though...

Hahaha, I don't get scared easily by horror movies when I watch them, but when I go to sleep at night they haunt me. Anyway, I have a few recommendations:

The Grudge or Ju-On: ( Basic synopsis ) " The Grudge describes a curse (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Curse) that is born when someone dies in the grip of a powerful rage or extreme sorrow. Those who encounter this murderous supernatural (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supernatural) force die and the curse is reborn repeatedly, passed from victim to victim in an endless, growing chain of horror. "

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Grudge

It was okay, the story was a little -blah- to me though. However, it's a a fairly good suspense/scare. Also, I have no preference over the japanese version and the americna version.

The Exorcism of Emily Rose: " In an extremely rare decision, the Catholic Church (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catholic_Church) officially recognized the demonic possession (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demonic_possession) of the 19 year-old college freshman. Told in flashbacks, The Exorcism of Emily Rose chronicles the haunting trial of the priest accused of negligence resulting in the death of the young girl who is believed to be possessed and the lawyer who takes on the task of defending him."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Exorcism_of_Emily_Rose

What can I say about this movie? It did a pretty good job scaring me. ;D So, I recommend this one over Ju-On. The plot was a lot better as well, though it was based on the true story of Emily Rose, so yeah.

Silent Hill: " The film follows a mother who takes her troubled daughter to Silent Hill, the town the girl cries out for while sleepwalking. After being knocked unconscious in a car crash outside the town, she awakens to find her daughter missing and the town engulfed in a parallel reality of fog and falling ash. While searching for her daughter, she faces surreal (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Surreal) reality shifts and suffering creatures while uncovering her daughter's connections to the town's dark secrets."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silent_Hill_%28film%29

Personally, I disliked this movie though many people seemed to have enjoyed it.

If you don't mind films with subtitles, I prefer Korean horror films.
My favourite is The Red Shoes which if you've ever read Hans Christian Anderson, you'll know not all fairy tales end happily (but makes for good horror films). You'll fear the shoes!

My other favourite is Bunshinsaba which is about some school girls that call up the spirit of a former student who returns to enact the typical vengeance on those that killed her. Calling up vengeful ghosts is never a good idea.

49 Days is a Hong Kong film...not exactly terrifying, but quite suspenseful. I really loved it and it's worth looking for.

Those are all the ones I can think of...I'm not much into horror these days as it's more about the gore than the story.

personally I think the old horror flicks are the best.

the original nightmare on elm street 1,2,3 & 4

Halloween (all)

Friday the 13th (all)

Critters (the first and second one only) (about alien space creatures that eat people)

Fright Night (vampire movie, also had a second, heard it wasn't as good)

Creepshow 1 & 2 (tales from the crypt type, it comes with 4 stories and they're ALL freakishly gory, I still have nightmares about one of them)

The Shining - Stephen King (need I say more)

these are all SCARY, with a bit of GORE, they're not thrillers, they're not teenybopper horror flicks either. Enjoy ^.^

theres a japanese horror film called "dobunishi" i saw it about 3 months ago on pay-per-view , so i wouldent know any other way to go about getting it, but its about this mother trying to get revenge for all the sick cruel girls that burrned the mothers child. and she puts a curse on all the schoolgirls that killed the daughter and they end up killing themslefs. XD i thought it was a good movie.

I basically grew up on horror movies, I've probably seen nearly all of the classics and a lot of newer ones. I consider myself a self-proclaimed horror aficionado.
If you don't scare too easily, I doubt any of the older horror films will do more than entertain or at least give you a sense of nostalgia.
The only newer horror/thriller movie that freaked me out was a movie called "They", it's basically about night terrors, can't remember much more (been awhile since I seen it) But, it's better watched at night while it's quiet.

House Of A 1000 Corpses and The Devil's Rejects. They're both good films, not that scary (personally), but they do have interesting characters and a strange but entertaining plot. They aren't bad for two low-budget films. Oh yeah, the blood and torture ain't bad either.

I'd recommend watching Korean or Japanese horror films. I have a pretty good resource for horror movies and reviews. But, some of the ads on the site are a little risqué, if you're interested, PM me.

Personally favorites: Infection(kasen), Ichi The Killer, The Audition. The rest escape me at the moment.

I wish I could recomment something good... but the last horror movie I saw was The Grudge and I didn't even watch it x]. My friend dragged me to see it and I kept staring at a water bottle, continually reading the label and ingredients (Water. << ).

Yeah... I'm pretty lame like that. But I keep hearing that for movies like The Ring, Dark Water and The Grudge, the Japanese versions are usually better. Those guys sure love creepy ghost stories.

The ones with storylines that REALLY freak me out are The Exorcist, Children of the Corn, The Omen, and Valley of the Damned. All include 'psychotic demon-possessed children running rampant' themes... freaky o.o;;

You've probably already seen all those, though. I saw a Horror Movie countdown recently on cable, but I can't really remember the name (sorry! ^^). There were plenty of gross-out scenes in that one

A great Horror/Zombie flick, 28 Days later, its such a great mix of suspense and pure violence, it is truley British cinema at its best.

First of all, i would like to unrecommend you Korean/Japanese horror, wich are all boring, and only full of ghosts and cellphones.
Second, boy, i drink horror films with a fresh egg; Love Stories, they are to me!
So, the least scary, but good films would be Final Destination, 2 and 3; it's abut life... and how well you must die.
Another good thriller is Hostel and it's latest subsequent Hostel 2 (www.hostel2.com).
Do NOT even think about rentig overrated crap like "The Ring", "The Grudge", "They", or "Alone in the dark".
"Creep" wasn't so bad, for a brittish horror movie, so, i guess you can get that one.
"Wrong Turn", this one got me and my friends holding the **** in our livers for 2 hours, and it was scary as hell.
I'm curious to see "Scanned Alive", they say "genius torture methods", i say "something to laugh about".

I recommend Alien and the original Nosferatu. I don't know if they'll scare you or not, but they are SUPER movies, imo.

ooooh...I just remembered some other films I would recommend. I'm not much partial to horror films made today cos they really are more about gore than about plot and true terror, but I do love suspense films. And I'd recommend anything by Alfred Hitchcock. The original Psycho, is still terrifying. Remember to always lock the bathroom door when going to shower. Strangers on a Train is another excellent one (Criss-Cross). My very favourite Hitchcock film is Rear Window (spying on one's neighbours can be a dangerous business). Hitchcock is absolutely the master of suspense and I find that suspense tales seem to be all too often underrated. Gore has it's place, but so does a good storyline.

The 2 most scariest movie i know are either The Grudge II Japanese version, the one that has different parts of stories.

Second one i remember was 1408, 1408 is very jumpy, that one was scaring me so much, my eyes were closed almost for the whole movie.

I would stick to Halloween 1 and 2. The Exorcist, the first one ONLY. I haven't really found too many "horror" movies which are really worth it.

I'm glad someone recommended Holloween. As for Friday the 13th I found most of those movies more gorey than scary.

Also I don't know if anyone said this yet but Hellraiser.

Hellraiser is a 1987 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1987_in_film) British (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Britain) horror film (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horror_film) exploring the themes of sadomasochism (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sadomasochism), pain as a source of pleasure, and morality under duress and fear. It is based on the critically acclaimed novella The Hellbound Heart (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Hellbound_Heart) by Clive Barker, who also wrote the screenplay and directed the film. In the UK (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Kingdom), the film was titled Clive Barker's Hellraiser.

The Rest is here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hellraiser

The Amityville Horror was also a pretty good horror film.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Amityville_Horror_%282005_film%29

The Hill's have eyes (2006)
While driving to California on July 17 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/July_17) in 2005 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2005), a family accidentally passes through an Air Testing range which is closed off to the public. They crash and are stranded in the desert. They then become the stalked subjects of a group of cretinous people who have not emerged into modern times.
At the beginning of the film, when the setting switches to the present-day, men in NBC suits (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NBC_suit) are seen combing over the desert rubble with Geiger counters (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geiger_counter). They are then brutally attacked by a large man wielding a pickaxe (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pickaxe). The men are killed, chained crudely to the back of their own pickup truck, and dragged off into the open desert.

Rest is here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Hills_Have_Eyes_%282006_film%29

And Creepshow
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Creepshow

And this will probably be a good help with your search.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_horror_films#Forthcoming (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_horror_films#Forthcoming)

And of course Attack of the puppet people.

I too am an all out Horror-Movie-Buff, but too scary movies these days don't scare me.

For me, I liked:

The Grudge 1-2
And anything made after 2000 with ZOMBIES in it. ( I have this thing about ZOMBIES).

But if you're looking for something "emotionally scary" (is that even possible?) than I suggest

Requiem For A Dream - It's about drug addicts and what their addiction eventually does to them. (A real thought provoking movie to me.)

I'd suggest some horror on a more real scale, even if it's not truly horror, it seemed to freak out my friends more than the horrors themselves.
