Looking for the name of this

Hey guys,

I remember a long time ago watching part of an anime show, it took place in a city and these thugs were going to rape a girl, but a guy with a staff came and beat them up.

Later on the guy with the staff fought a giant spider thing in a subway or something like that.

I know its vague, but if anyone knows the name of this I'd appreciate it.
