I'm still thinking about that actually and I know what lent is. Maybe pizza or sweets. Don't worry. I'll live without it. ^^-

I'd give up my sanity but that left me long ago.

Aside from that, nothin.

Probably my clinginess and possesiveness towards my best friend.
But someone's got to keep an eye on her, and that someone might as well be me.
Who else is better?

At Lent we give up a lot of "me" time for prayer time instead. Last year, we even fasted...I don't remember how long, maybe the whole season. No, we didn't give up eating, we did eat and drink but our food was just soup with a little rice mixed in, and fish. No sweets or soda. That way, there was more time for Him who created all things.

I'm not sure if we're fasting again, no word yet from our Archbishop. He tells us when to start. :) But definitely I'm giving up some time...maybe cut off on space-out time...

Yeah Yeah...Lent, ashes, guilt, beads, removed by Bean, chocolate, and a 2000+ year old tradition that won't die. It doesn't interest me.

So your posting for...

Just to raise your post count in my forum with a comment or reply that really is meaningless to the topic, since you have no input for it?

Because the question was "What are you giving up when it comes this year chocolate/sweets/smoking/drinking or are you going to doing something other than giving up ."

Nothing is a perfectly valid answer to that question.

I don't celebrate Lent, it's not within my religion. People giving up things to show their love for god isn't really what I think religion should be all about, even if it is just this one holiday.

If you're self indulgent, like myself, do as you please, I suppose. However, every once in a while, I deprive myself of something simply because I have the will to do it and it makes me feel a lot better about indulging the rest of the time. I just don't think religion should dictate this.

I'm just going to give up candy. It's easy to find a way to get some while not breaking the rule, so it does not affect me anyway.

well the states that one should practise lent if one can...circumstances can make a person avoid lenten commitments..
