I'm a pretty big System of A Down fan; in fact, they are one of my top five favorite bands, up there with Tool, Pearl Jam, and some others. It's like sweet chaos when they perform. I wish my lungs were as powerful as those guys - trying to sing along to a SoAD song is a workout in-and-of itself. As far as my favorite songs go:

They used to be fantastic, back 4-6 years ago. Now...meh. I believe they have gone (far) downhill. The last song they had I liked was Aerials, and that was about 4-5 years ago.

Chop Suey is about the only song of System of a Down that I like. I really don't like the band in general.

I don't think they're bad, but I never got into them that much. They just remind me of what happened to H.I.M. and CKY at my school (not that SOAD is anything like them musically), they were hardly known at all and then all of a sudden everyone knew who they were and ranted and raved about how amazing their music was. For me, whenever a band hits that level, they lose some sort of credibility. They become more of a brand then a band.

System of a Down is an OK band. I, truly, loved their songs, 'Chop Suey' and 'Hypnotize.' The rest of their songs are just...meh. <_<;

I love System of a Down. I agree that their current stuff isn't all that great - it's not horrible, it's just not as good as their previous work.

So that's what SOAD stands for. Now I finally know. ^.^
I don't think I have ever listened to any of this music, but since so many people here like them I shall look them up. Maybe I'd like it, who knows?

I used to think they were kickarse. Now...not so much. Arials and Toxicity are my favorites.

I think "Aerials" is probably their best song yet. But then, I like pretty much everything off their Toxicity album.

I'm not sure why people think their recent stuff is bad, although I don't think it's nearly as good as Toxicity. When I first heard the music I was "ugh" about it because it seemed so much... stronger than what I was used to from them. But now I like a fair deal of it. "Hypnotize" is grand, and I like listening to the opening of "Kill Rock and Roll".
