Invader Zim and Anime Works?

This is something I have been curious about but have not been able to find much info on. Does anyone know why Invader Zim is associated with Anime Works (or anime for that matter) and is not really an anime?

Any info would be appreciated.

That's all well and good, but the question was not "why isn't Zim an anime?"

The article does mention being played on an Internet anime radio station, but I don't think that would have anything to do with it..

It is not an anime but Animeworks decided to release the DVDs because they know it is popular among anime fans for the most part.
