You remind me of a girl that I once knew,
I guess that’s why I felt so close to you,
And even though you seem so familiar,
You still hold a special place in my heart.
Goofy, witty, and plenty sweet,
You’re a beautiful sight to behold,
Personality that is matched by none,
Passion that can only be described as wonderfully bold.
I might not always appear to be sane,
Truthfully, the same could be said about you,
But that’s why we connected so well,
I know this is corny and all…but I think you’re swell.
As you can clearly see,
Words aren’t really my specialty,
I’m just trying to explain how I feel,
Not that I want to make this into a big deal!
I just wanted to say that…
Well, you’re important to me,
I hope this doesn’t make me sound like a freak,
But without you, my life would be oh so bleak.
Okay, so…that was a bit of a stretch,
But it’s not completely farfetched,
You seriously put a smile on my face,
Which, trust me, is not very easy to do.
Hmm, what else can mere words say?
I appreciate your friendship everyday,
So, whenever you feel down, or need a good laugh,
Just remember – I’ll always be here for you.

I was going to dedicate this to a female friend of mine, but I decided to just go neutral and make the poem general. Besides, dedicating a poem is rather nerve-racking, especially if it ends up being crappy and the person its for wants to toss it back in your face (well, if they had a copy of the poem). Not that I haven’t done poems for friends before, but…meh. Oh well, tell me what you think…or you can just laugh at my poetic “skills” (or, as many of you probably think, the lack there of); whatever floats your boat.
