I want to thank you,
My special lady,
I’m forever grateful.
You showed me joy,
When all I had was sorrow,
I’ll risk my heart for you,
So we can see tomorrow.
You showed me passion,
I know that you’re the one,
I want to hold you forever,
Your beauty matched by none.
Thank you for showing kindness,
To a heart turned cold,
Baby, you opened my eyes,
And awakened my soul.
I never thought I could love again,
I’m so lucky to have you as my best friend,
I promise I’ll make you mine…someday,
I hope that this feeling will never end.

Author notes: I would first like to note that I used a song’s lyrics as an influence for this poem: “Once Again” - by Frankie Jordan. I did use one line (“I never thought I could love again”) from the song, just to make things clear, but I didn’t rip off the song; I just liked that line and decided to use it.
Secondly, I really need to start doing poetry on other subjects, besides love and mushy stuff. I don’t know why, but I seem to do my best work when I’m talking about love. Maybe it’s because I haven’t felt too inspired by anything else. I will try something new…just not today. ^_^
