What the hell was I thinking,
Letting go of you like that,
I was fool for your love,
Yet I started to pull back.
Why did I let you forget that,
You are my one and only girl,
The sun, the rain, the moon the stars,
My precious, angelic pearl.
Damnit, it hurts me to see you cry,
Your stinging sadness, your tearful sigh,
The frustration mounting in your eyes,
You even thought that our love was a lie.
Well, maybe you are too good for me,
Your face so radiant and bright,
Yes, maybe I should just die,
And fade into the light.
I am worthless aren't I,
Drowning in the never-ending quicksand,
Rescue me from this pain,
Somebody...grab my hand.
Who am I kidding,
Its too late for that now,
Just let me go baby,
I don't want to drag you down.
Yes, I give up,
I'm unworthy of your praise,
Just know that I appeciate you,
And all of your days.
So today I say good-bye,
Please go find a better life,
Even if you still love me,
And I had dreams of making you my wife.
It doesn't matter anymore,
I simply must set you free,
Just think about how happy your life will be,
When you don't have to love me.
And I let go, falling to the earth beneath me,
Falling endlessly...
Until I felt the soft touch of an Angel's wing...
Is that...my angel,
What are you doing here, my love,
I might hurt you again,
Something I would never dream of.
But I know that I will,
Its just a matter of time,
Yet, I knew that on the inside,
Her love for me overflowed like wine.
"I...", She stopped me,
Just short of something crazy,
And then she whispered in my ear,
"I am forever yours, baby."
My eyes lit with passion,
Her lips as soft as the morning dew,
I held on to my angel,
And proclaimed, "Darling, I love you."
No other woman before you,
No other girl can compare,
Your beauty forever captivates me,
And entrances me in a stare.
Yes, I'll hold on to my angel,
and pull her close to me,
Giving her a kiss she'll never forget,
This is how love was meant to be.

Author Notes: Yep, its pretty long, huh? Its also the darkest poem that I have ever written. I was going to make it about a relationship, then things got better and everything worked out (sort of), so I decided to make it more dramatic. Really, I just went on and on, new ideas popping into my head.
So, there you have it. I know its not perfect, as I didn't have a lot of time to proof-read it, but if you can give me tips or contructive criticism, it would be much apprieciated! ^-^
