FullMetal Alchemist vs. Naruto

Naruto seemsto be more famous than Full metal Alchemist, but for some reason morepeople prefered FullMetal Alchemist than Naruto. i think the main part of the reason is becuase Full Metal Alchemist had better story lines than Naruto. If there is more episodes of Full metal Alchemist, i will surely download it becuaseits so cool and everything. so lets vote, which is better, Naruto or Full Metal Alchemist?:D

Full Metal Alchemist, hands down. And here's why:

It actually has a story, unlike Naruto, which has none save for charecter back stories. And that is not the same as a real story.
The charecters are original, as opposed to Naruto's stereotypes.
There is far, far, FAR, less crappy filler than Naruto.
FMA actually has an ending, an idea that has escaped the creator of Naruto repeatedly.
FMA has philisophical implications, unlike Naruto.
And besides, Naruto is nothing more than pretty animation tacked together.

Well this isn't a very fair choice...Oh well I choose FMA overall because it wins more points for storyline and quality. Naruto beats it in quantity, and fanbase, but FMA is just better, to me anyways. Although, at this point in time I would pick Naruto, only because FMA ended all too quickly. FMA left more of an impresion on me, but you never know what Naruto could hold in the future ^ ^

Seems like FMA taking a lead in this thread since I last checked...hmm....for good reason though. 20 weeks of filler can really change your mind on wether or not a show is worth watching. 50-60 episodes is usually enough for a good show, but there are exceptions. FMA still my pick here.

Thats not a valid argument in this thread. You're compairing 2 shows that are BOTH unrealistic. Find me an Alchemist who can slap his hands together and create a sword, make a cage apear from the ground to capture someone in a matter of seconds.If you want more unrealistic alchemy, try bonding a soul to a suit of armor.
See, both unrealistic. If you need to bring up the fact that Naruto is unrealistic, bring up the fact that FMA fails at realism as well.

I love both animes. However, I was an FMA fan before I even knew what Naruto was. FMA is more emotional and dramatic, plus, I don't have to suffer through all those damn fillers, like Naruto has. FMA does have some comedy in it, like the whole Ed being short thing, but its not over-done. However, I love the goofy antics in Naruto. In addition, Naruto has a lot more characters that I like, as in Shikamaru, Kakishi, Naruto, Hinata, etc. You know what, despite my love for FMA, I think I'm starting to lean towards Naruto. I like both, but Naruto is more my style.

I know what you mean. FMA does have a very good storyline, but Naruto has more well-rounded characters, so everyone has a favourite. For example, watching someone like Shikamaru function is a refreshing change from everyone else on the show being so gung-ho about everything. Not saying there's anything wrong with being gung-ho, of course. ^^

FMA is WAAAAAAAAAAAYYYY better than Naruto. FMA has a very well developed deep story line. Especially in the last few episodes. If you've seen them you would know what I mean. It's also better than Naruto because Ed is a very different main character from the rest. Most main characters are either stupid or all sweet and innocent and never do anythingw wrong in their life. ok people lets have some good reasons as to why FMA or naruto is better, not some biased opinion b/c you happen to like some character.

judging on solely the manga: FMA is better since its storyline is deep and transcends average manga stories. to me its better since theres so much about life and the decisions people make. Naruto is great as well, but to me, its just a fun to read manga about kids growing up in the ninja lifestyle. its nice but it doesn't appeal to me as FMA does.

dont get me wrong people, i read both mangas and enjoy them as much as any one could. this is just my opinion.

as for the animes....both could do without the endless bore of unneeded fillers...

Tough choice huh? I'll go with Naruto since the story is balance between the action, philosophy, and jokes.

It's a tough one, as I love both anime shows, equally, but I will still voice my opinions.
Both animes have very attractive art and that's always a plus.
Naruto has far more characters for the viewer to choose from than FMA who mostly centres on Ed and Al, NOT that that isn't a bad thing.
FMA has a much more touching storyline and is very original aswell.
But that is also not to misjudge Naruto, as everything has been done and drained for all it's worth, so both shows are good in showing at least some originality, as in Chakra and the Homunculus, not showing them as equals, just showing some more of the original points of both shows.
I'm not one for in depth criticism, and I hope that I'm not flamed for this later. Actually, half of my points have probably already been proved, but rant, rant, rant from me.
I cannot choose between either show, as I love both dearly, and both appeal to a wide variety of audiences. ^-^

Well if we're comparing fanbase then Naruto has larger fan count of chidern under of the age 14 (this is really true), but Fullmetal Alchemist has a larger fan count of fans over the age of 14.

If we're comparing fighting wise, then I really don't know. Naruto has ninja skills and quick attacks. But Ed has beaten two ninjas before in the ManGa, and he can transmute about anything. It's a hard desision!

Out of more than 100 eps of Naruto, I only counted 10-12 good episodes -.-; The dub isn't worth mentioning

I agree... ye, there were some FMA episodes who were just a little bit slow paced and not funny...:closedeye
but it has a great storyline no doubt about it...

I love Fullmetal Alchemist. The storyline is complex, and it keeps you at the edge of your sit. It has historical referance to the Philosophers Stone. I think it is just more of a unique series, because how it deals with Alchemy. For only 51 episodes, I think it overpowers Naruto in that category.

I also enjoy Naruto. It uses ninjas in a unique, but there are too many episodes. I think if it dimmed down on the episodes, it would be better I have to say.

I say FMA because its short (but not too short), sweet, and to the point. I don't think Naruto can compare to Full Metal Alchemist because of all the characters, confusion, and annoying characters. All the characters in FMA are loveable and realistic and there is one purpose. Naruto follows to many stories and the anime is horrible. I think the manga version of Naruto is way better, but thats beside the point. Anyways, FMA and Naruto are both very good, but I choose FMA.

FullMetal Alchemist is like way batter then Naruto from how i see it and these are my reasons:
1) FMA has a interesting story line and a very original one too BUT naruto has a very popular and not original story line and world
2) the creators of FMA managed to put a story line in 51 episodes and a movie which is basicly the same length as narutos story line only without all the side stuff and 20 episode battels that no one cares about couse most of the battle they spend doing stuff which is NOT fighting so in naruto there just trying to stretch the storyline and as known from ALOT of animes and movies and stuff when you stretch the storyline to much it starts getting really boring
3) i like FMA batter then Naruto
4) I think that naruto is a really childish anime as for FMA it can be vied in any age and it never gets boring couse for instance take me i watched the anime more then 20 times and i still like it as much as i did in the first time and i know alot of people that think the same about FMA

A few reasons 1. Its is more fun and enexpecting at times in FMA I can tell what will happen

2. Naruto is easier to understand. Yea you can understand FMA yea but there is too much at times it doesn't make sense

3. Just cus I want to I like Naruto Better because I have a crush on Gaara :P and cause more people suffer more because of what they care about than FMA. Lots of discrimination in FMA and I'm not really intrested in that kind of stuff... even though I like when people fight against each other guns are too much of an advantage also Alchemy

2.) Characters

FMA characters have more depth than the Naruto ones. plus the villains are way more evil than the ones in Naruto. and there are less annoying characters in FMA.
The plan of the homunculi in the manga (they'll turn the whole country into one big Philosopher's Stone with a huge underground transmutation circle) is more evil than the Akatsuki leader's not-so-evil plan.

3.) Animation

The quality of the Fullmetal Alchemist anime is wonderful throughout the entire series (as expected of BONES), while Naruto's animation is very inconsistent. Plus FMA managed to fit that much action in just 51 episodes while Naruto is very drawn out and sidetracked too much that it became too tiring to watch.

4.) Music

Yes, I admit Toshiro Masuda is a genius when you listen to the Naruto, but the FMA bgm is even more awesome. They even went to Russia to have the Moscow International Symphony Orchestra play the background music. And the FMA OP and ED songs really fits the series and the plot because of the meanings compared to the Naruto, whose OP and ED songs barely have connection to the storyline.

Fullmetal Alchemist all the way. It's more my style. Naruto I watch it, because... meh... Kakashi, Shikamaru, Rock Lee and Gaara are ok with me (not a real reason, but I'm not a fan either). Manga wise, I stay with FMA. And for fillers? Half FMA anime episodes can be considered as fillers because they are VERY different from the manga, and it's still a great show.

Hmm... This is tough. I recently began watching FMA, while I'm already in the Shippuden series of Naruto, (then again, I skimmed through the fillers). No doubt, Full Metal Alchemist is an awesome anime, but I have to say Naruto because I'm more familiar with it, and I like it much more after wathcing Shippuden. However, I agree with everyone that said Naruto is brought down by the fillers, and it's slow progress of the series.

I overly prefer Fullmetal alchemists story over naruto's. Imo naruto kinda bored me after reaching the fillers stage so i gave up watching it. Fullmetal alchemists storyline..was interesting? There was a good plot involved and the fillers were at a minimum. Naruto...just goes on and on. I know there are the new episodes, but it kinda doesn't make sense if you skip a whole block of episodes just to watch it? D:

I choose FMA. It's a way better than Naruto because of characters, plot, graphic. And opening songs... in FMA all 4 are awesome songs, in Naruto there're only 2 that much good songs ("Haruka Kanata" and "GO!!!"). And those fights that lasts for many episodes... It's getting boring sometimes. I've seen only 100 episodes of Naruto yet, but all I can say that only very very good part of it was Gaara vs. Rock Lee battle, Naruto vs. Gaara and all the scenes with Naruto and Jiraya, they were so funny^^ But that's all :( In FMA almost all episodes were ***-kicking^^

To say "All they do is transmute things" is kind of odd. FMA is not an "Action" anime, it is a drama anime. The basis is in character developement, storyline and background. When you compare action, yes Naruto is more interesting, but Naruto has no where near the depth that FMA has. I'm surprised that Naruto is so big on this board and DBZ is so disliked. Naruto has far too many similarities to the flaws of DBZ, i.e. too much filler, fights/conflict situations drawn out over multiple episodes etc.

Without hesitation I can say that Fullmetal Alchemist is greater show.

Naruto is just a fad that won't go away. It's like the pet rock. It's insanely popular, you don't know why it's popular, and it's a stupid concept yet you feel like you have to get in the action because it's so popular. The same can be said of Inuyasha.

With Fullmetal Alchemist, it's very original, has a very unique and interesting concept, a fantastic story, and characters that you can relate to and get behind.

I never understood why Naruto was so popular and why so many people love it. The only two animes that I heard people talking about in my old high school were Inuyasha and Naruto. It always baffled me that Fullmetal Alchemist was more unknown and in the background.

Fullmetal is the superior show. Hands down.

I like them both, but Fullmetal Panic is better IMO, its story line was hot, it was funny, action was just good in general, had the right number of eps, no fillers, i loved FMP! :) But Naruto and Fullmetal Alchemist are stilll good, if i had to choose, i'd say....
