Nope I first I couldn't beat him. But now since I had some help I can beat him.

So which Star Ocean are you talking about. The third?

If so then the most important clue is to keep your eyes on your MP, and fill it up whenever it gets low. Usually your characters die from MP draining as oposed to HP hits.

I think They're talking about Gabriel/Indalecio/Filla/L -Mode. SO2

Best tip?
Go back to the Nede Funland and enter the battle contest. For a few hours.
It should'nt take too long , Single character Survival Battle should give enough EXP. If you can manage to Win.
The Rainbow Bracelets (whenever an attack is blocked. You shoot stars at the attacker for damage equal to your attack.) are excellent rewards so, it's worth it.
Ignore them and head to the secret dungeon if you're too weak.

Don't forget to earn yourself a couple of pairs of Bunny Shoes, since Gabby boy is wickedly fast.

If you still can't beat him...

Get the a few Leviatine Swords by beating the super dooper hidden boss a few times. yeah... Level Max is recommended.
If the final boss then becomes .. too weak, head back to Nede and unlock his "other" form. O _o
