I'm surprised no one made a thread about this yet.

Anyways, I went to go see it today, after waiting for it to be shown in a theater close enough to where I live. And I've gotta say, it was a great movie.

It wasn't just about 'OMG they are gay and they're going to kiss' and that whole idea about it. There's so much more to the story than the whole gay aspect of it. I don't think enough people are able to get past that stereotype enough to go out and see the movie. Which is sad, because alot of people are missing out on how much of a message this movie sends out. Plus the acting was pretty good, Heath and Jake did a really good job.

So, if you've seen it, what did you think? If you're going to see it, what do you think it's going to be like? And if you refuse to see it, why so?

I think if people can get over the initial 'gay' part of it, they'll really enjoy this movie.

I am waiting for it to come out in our littlw town here...But when it does I am going to see it. The gay part of it dosen't bug me. I think being gay is no big deal, in my opinion if they wanna like men let them it none of our buissness. It will be an interesting movie..also, there are actual gay rodeo's...so yea. It'll be great.

Brokeback mountain? Isn't that what Chuck Norris calls the pile of dead ninjas in his front yard?

I don't really know if I want to see it. Not because it's about gay men, just because it doesn't sound all that interesting to me. After reading several reviews and summaries, the movie sounds like a celebration of angst. (I have plenty of angst-fests in my anime collection, where I don't have to pay $9 to watch them.) If someone rented it and invited me to watch it, I would, but I won't spend the money myself.

I can't wait to see it. I have been reading reviews about the movie, and some of them are so hatefilled, it makes you realy wonder if those people have nothing else to do but hate others. I also made a comment in those reviews, and i got a reply from someone that was kinda sweet. It was just a short one and said "It's folks like you, that make this world a better place"

But anyways, i have seen a trailer of the movie and it looked great. I realy hope i get a chance to see it. But i only live on a small town, and a Military town at that, so i'm not sure the movie will even be shown here.:(

This movie pretty much destroyed my whole concept of western movies. Why would you make a gay cowboy movie? It makes no sense.

Gay cowboys. John Wanye is scratching at the lid of his coffin, and I'm about to grab a shovel and help him out.

I wouldn't see that crap if someone paid me, thats the most missed up ideal for a movie westren I've ever heard of.
This would be a perfect reason for the Duke to come
back and well you know make things right again.

OK, I'm going to refrain from comment on the, "That movie is GAY!!! AGGGGHHHH GAY COWBOYS!!!! NOT NATURAL!!!" type posts.

I have not seen this movie, but I would like to. I agree with Tsuda, the movie isn't really about homosexuality. People refer to it as a "gay cowboy movie", but you've got to realize that the movie is about love, so it shouldn't be clasified like that. Gay people exist, and this is a movie saying that gay love is just as beautiful as straight love.

Plus, that isn't even completely relevent. The acting and the film making is much more important.

Anyway, this movie has my thumbs up.

I personally don't want to see it. And it's not the fact that it has gay cowboys, that part I don't mind. It just sounds so frickin' boring. You want a more interesting plot than just "gay cowboys"? How about "gay cowboys with heavy machine guns fighting off an army of monkey zombie ninjas wielding katana swords." That's a movie I'd pay $9 bucks for, but another romance movie isn't going to interest me. If there isn't a body count of over 100, I'll wait until it hits the rental video store.

Brokeback Mountain just hit the Alexandria theatre this past Friday; I have yet to see it. I tried to sneak in today when my grandparents and I went and saw Dick and Jane, but it didn't work. >< Anyways, I've read dozens of reviews and heard tons of opinions, all of which agree that this movie is not only decent, but very good.

I agree with what many of you are saying; I dislike it when people refer to BM as a "gay cowboy movie", even though, at the center, that is what the movie appears to be. I'm gay, but that isn't the only reason I want to see this movie. It justifies the fact that love is love, and it doesn't matter if it is between two people of the opposite genders, or of the same.

Plus I love both Jake Gyllenhael (sp?) and Heath Ledger. Don't mind the fact I probably mispelled both of their names :P

I wanna see it, but do not get mad at for me saying i do not like a gay movie getting so much hype.I just think the public has satrted to use this movie as the gay movie, when it has lost it's original purpose. Now it is the gay movie that the christians are against and the critics love, it is starting some things i do not like to see.Movies are my life and i am a total movie buff, but i do not like the fact that this movie is becoming the gay revolution film.Gays are now allowed to be married and so on, they need to quit with these trying to put themselves out there so much, you are gay and live your life. There making it such a big deal to be gay now, i know alot of gay people who just live normal and everything is fine, but for awhile now there pushing the gay thing too far. This movie is helping it get more and more gay, i am wondering if they made this to make a impact that is causing problems, just let people be gay and don't make them all over the news and tv and so on.It is stupid, this is just a movie that should just be a movie, but it has become the big gay movie that is winning everything.I hate what the public is doing with this movie, and even though it is about love and all that it is basically about two gay men and that is what they meant it to be.It kinda is "The gay cowboy movie" its about two gay cowboys and that kinda makes that name, so just quit pushing this away and try to make it sound not about being gay.It would be better if you just say it is the movie about the two gay men who are in love, then people would except the movie better and it would really help out things. The show will and grace is making fun of gay people basically, you call it the gay show and i just want you people to except BbM is a gay movie.I have nothing against gay people, just stick with what the story is really about and that is two men are in love. They wrote it to be about the two men in love, and let it be that movie instead of trying to make it sound like it has nothing to do with gay people, gay is excepted nowadays. We do not need to make this such a bid deal people, just let it be a good movie and try not to make it the movie for you to say,It is great and im tired of hearing gay things about it.It is called brokeback mountain, and it is about two gay men in love and that is all it is.

I want to see it, but everyone is saying about how its bad, and I was listening to the radio about the views and they said that this is a way to force us to except homosexuality. No one is forcing them to do anything, no one put a gun to their head and made them watch the movie. I thought that was a stupid opinion. But I want to see it, but i'll have to wait until it comes out on video.

I'm not homophobic but the image of men kissing is just something I don't want to see. And my idea of a western is guns blazing and piles of bodies, I like action and thrillers so this film will not be on my to see list.

We got the point after the first sentence, your whole post just repeats itself through out the whole unnesessarily huge paragraph that you wrote.Ofcourse people are going to make a big deal out of a gay cowboy love story, because no one has ever made a movie like this before. The concept is simple but also something that is finally new.All the movies that are in the movie theatres today are either remakes or sequals,im just happy to finally see something that is original and good, unlike the garbage movies that they have been releaseing as of lately.

It is rather sad to see that so many people are so very close-minded about seeing the movie,I swear it seems like stupidity is a disease among you people.

No thank you, I'm not watching that broken butt movie for many reasons.
1) I'm broke.
2) I hate romantic movies
3) I don't watch anything gay, unless it's a gay joke.
4) Couldn't have been a gay pirate movie instead?

To resolve this, no, I'm not a homophobe. But my life does revolve around anything sexual, homosexual, heteralsexual and a equal amount of racial(sp?) jokes... I'm an equal. I and really don't care if I hurt someone's feelings or upset someone. But for those I do, three words... deal with it. Because theres all kinds of people out there and you can not change them no matter what, they will either like or hate you.

Up until today I thought Brokeback Mountain was a ski resort.

And no, I won't see it. Not because of the gay aspect, but because I don't like westerns. Assuming it isn't, I am also not a big fan of romance.
