kenshins sakabato is crap. As much as i love the anime, the blade is so easy to snap. Thats the most unrealistic thing about the anime, with all of the stunts kenshin bulls, that blade should have snapped on about 100 occasions.

Kurosaki Ichigo's Zangetsu. It is definatly the best sword of anime. It has immense power, it practical in size and purpose. Of course the original zanpakutou Zangetsu(before ShiKai or BanKai) was a too bog and heavy, but that was only due to Ichigo's spiritual power leaking. Nothing special about it. It was just a huge katana.
The Zangetsu (ShiKai) was very useful. It did great damage at close range due to it's semi-large size. It also has the Getsu Gatenshou, which is devastating at long range, and would simply be overkill at close range. Nameless (The name given to Ichigo's hollow by a few members here), showed just how Zangetsu could be used which Ichigo faced him in his own mind.
Tensa Zangetsu (BanKai) was simply beautiful. A sleek black katana of normal size, with a small chain hanging from the pommel. It's ability to increase Ichigo's speed proved itself to be devastating, and it had the potential to own Byakuya's Kageyoshi, Senbonzakura Kageyoshi Senkai, and Senbonzakura Shuukei Hakutaiken, as Nameless showed us.

Nameless seems to be able to use Zangetsu far better than Ichigo....

Jin Zenkai's Golden god sword and Baku Zenkai's Silver Devil Blade fused together. i it was called the Yin-Yang Soul Blade of The Univers (in jap. it means Platnum Blade of Univers) . It's the coolest and strongest sword i have ever seen in all of the anime shows that have swords... the sword is said to be so strong, that when ever it is to be moved around, a natural desaster happens in the direction of the tip points to, and when its full potental is summoned, there happens to be a black hole that stays behind the welder of the sword, and everything that is near it gets sucked in exept for the welder... i dont know who gets the sword, because i havent seen the rest of the movie series.. i hope it's Jin. Or maybe it's his brother that'll get it...

There are alot of good swords in a whole range of anime's. In my eyes it would be hard to choose what i think is the best sword. If i had to choose i would say the sword from Rave Master purely because of its ability to be several different swords.

Ichigo's Zangetsu is one of my favorite looking swords. The thing is a frickin meat cleaver as big as he is.

Cloud's Buster Sword is the quintessential "Big Sword", the one to which all other big swords are compared. It didn't have to have any intrinsic powers, it was big and sleek and simple.

Manji's two swords in Blade of the Immortal are cool too, as far as powerless swords are concered. The ones with the rings he spins on his fingers. I'd like to own those.

But as far as power is concered, the most powerful sword would have to be Aizen's Kyouka Suigetsu from Bleach. Sure it's cool to have a sword that controls the elements, or shoots some kind of energy, but what is more useful than being able to completely control your opponant's perception through hypnosis? Not to mention it works on all senses on everyone equally, no one is immune, unless you're blind.

I've only seen three, maybe four, episodes of Inuyasha, but I was under the impression that his sword is basically a beat-up-piece-of-junk katana that transforms into a large dao. It still doesn't look very sharp to me and looks like it would be used more as an ax than a sword (breaking through things rather than slicing). As for his Wind Scar, it looks pretty powerful, but from what I've read, only useful on demons. Overall, it doesn't look too grand and it's only redeeming technique, great as it may be (killing 100 in an attack so I hear, the BFG of swords), is fairly limited. Doesn't seem worth it to me.

I vote Byakuya's Senbonzakura. While Ichigo's Zangetsu is impressive in appearance with a fairly neat ability, Byakuya's is just amazing. Shattering into thousands of deadly blades that appear as nothing more than mere cherry blossoms results in one of the most beautiful deaths one can recieve. It's frightening, somewhat, to think a shikai and bankai so gorgeous can shred you into peices and scatter you to the wind. Lol.
