Going from the Sub, Kaiba is not the only rude one, Joey and Mokuba are too, swearing is a common thing between these three. The Kaibas to Joey and others.

I don't believe i'm defending Joey, even if he did say nasty stuff to Kaiba. Joey can say some smart stuff, in Series 1, i'd say he's a cool character, and fighter included.
I think you'd find Zork would destroy the Blue Eyes White Dragon, without a second glance, so would Yami, Kaiba, Pegasus, Marik (even though the last 4 would be through duels.) and Noah. Even a few more characters.
And what have you got against Kaiba? Other than the fact you don't understand him.
Every character has a reason for acting the way they do.

Joey used to be in alot of trouble and fighter. (Series 1 reference), and in gangs. Joey has always used his fists to answer his problems and now he's moving on to a more productive way. If you hurt his friends, he's on you soon after. Hence the instant dislike of Kaiba is series 2, Seto had hurt Yugi. Joey has determination to do well, not just for himself, but for his friends. Joey may act hotheaded at times, but he has a big heart.

Kaiba has a sorry past, orphan at 7. Abused physically and mentally. He's having trouble not taking his anger out on people the same way Gozaburo did. Seto's trying, but his explosive behaviour can destroy things. He tries to move on, yet is dogged by his past. He's a hard character to understand.

Yugi maybe short, but if you have Yami admiring you, you must be strong. Yugi seems weak, but he isn't. Yami is overprotective of his aibou, someone hurts Yugi, Yami plans to sort it out. Looking at Solomon, Yugi is short because it runs in the family. Yugi also has a big heart, he sees good in everyone.

Believe it or not the first movie was never aired outside of Japan because of it's dependance on the Card Game.
If you watched Series 1, you'd know that Yu-Gi-Oh (Translates as Game King), isn't all about the Card Game (Duel Monsters), other games where included such as Monster World (A table top RPG) and Capsule Monsters.
If you'd seen all series 2, Duel Monsters, Dungeon Dice Monsters, Virtual World (Based on Dueling and Adventure) have all featured along with the very really Ka battles of season 7 (Late series 2)
So far Series 3 as mainly stayed on Duels, Shadow Duels and Anti - Duels (think Battle City), but is mainly focusing on Shadow Duels (similar to Yami Bakura's style, and Pegasus')

I'd love to kill Dartz, but he's 10,000 years old, i do don't see the point really of killing someone that old.

I would rather see Yami's way of trying to help Seto, blow up in his face.....
Noah i liked at one point, well i don't know why i did in the first place, but it's the over used idea of trying to ruin Seto's life, anyway possible. I like Seto for what he's done, how he's selflessly sacrificed everything for Mokuba, time and time again, he's doing the best with what he knows, not great when your only family left (other than your brother) has decided they want your inheritance, you've been abused, had to grow up way too fast. Seto tries to do what he can, granted it has a times made both himself and Mokuba very miserable. (Which resulted in Mokuba yelling twice at Seto, (Virtual World Isolated In Cyberspace Part 2/3 (Yugi Vs Gansly), Enter The Shadow Realm/Alcatraz - Battle For Bronze Part 3 (Joey Vs Seto))).
But out of all the characters, Seto and Thief Bakura have very valid reasons for acting the way they did.
Not many people seem to understand Seto, to like both sides of the ice hearted CEO, it seems so in Yu-Gi-Oh as well, Yami does seem to both calm and fan the flames when Seto is aggitated. Mokuba tries to calm Seto, but one person can only do so much.

The card game is STILL the center of life for all of these people, and it IS still a ridiculous concept. There are very few anime in which you can say that the difference between the sub and the dub is the difference between entire base concepts, and Yu-gi-oh is NOT one of them. I've seen the sub, I've even played the card game(kinda fun, as far as Magic based card games are concerned) and it's still just a kids' show that's poorly written, poorly animated, and predictable more often than not. One person plays a card, one person happens to get a card that counters that card and does one other thing to put them on top, other person's next card JUST so happens to be the one that counters THAT card, and does soemthing else, add infinitium. Then one person gets a card that SEEMS useless, but they figure out a clever way to use it, or they get another card later that makes it godly, or some such nonsense. Every single battle has the same "twists" after a few episodes, just with new faces. But to the show's CREDIT...it did have a card featuring the variable space fighter/orbital frame Vic Viper of Gradius/Zone of the Enders fame...and that's AWESOME.
