hey...this is kinda like the "what song is stuck in ur mind" thread, but this one is a recommendation thread. i think it's cool to recommend songs to ppl if u like them and want to spread to love of that song. (put band name in bold)

my first HIGHLY recommended song (for hardcore emo/punk lovers):

Story of the Year - And the Hero Will Drown

Lysander Cyric Korvein

i recommend Mockingbird because it reminds me of what life really is and how hard it can be for some of us. in that song, Eminem (Marshall Mathers) talks about how things started to go wrong between he and his wife, Kim. his daughter, Hailie, saw everything that happened and Em tried to protect her from it. Em also mentions his niece, Laney. interesting, no?

anyway...i just thought i'd let everyone know. i was 100% for the first three options (punk, metal, emo). i just forgot to put multiple choice in, so i could only pick one. anyway...another recommendation here:

i say any music -Gorillaz
Rock-Rise Against
Punk-Anti flag
Techno- heck i dont know lol
And you just so happen to be the first person in this place that seems to actually know what punk is.

Blink 182 is not punk.

So, yeah, Anti-Flag is indeed punk, and good, as well.

And my favorite type of music.. is trip-hop.

Morcheeba, Sneaker Pimps, and Portishead are the leaders of this genre. Personally, I like Sneaker Pimps the most right now.

Anyway, a song I recommend is Bloodsport by Sneaker Pimps.

... Speaking of that song, I suddenly feel the need to go listen to it..

05-15-2005, 08:20 AM
Blink 182 is not punk.

What the hell should it be then?

I recommend for punklovers: green day - basket case (everyone knows this)
simple plan - shut up (great song)
agressive punk: Sum 41 - no reason
- still waiting (it's against hate)

dammit, i just have punk! will be back if i get something new!

by the way: i downloaded your songs flame demon! they're great! go on with these recommendations! plz :awe:

If you wanna feel gloomy and doomy...

Opeth - The Drapery Falls
My Dying Bride - The Raven and The Rose
Anathema - My Last Goodbye
Alice in Chains - Heaven Beside You ( not doom metal, okay, but still gloomy)

05-24-2005, 02:03 PM
some more from me....................

Atreyu - Bleeding Mascara / The Crimson

two great songs by Atreyu (Atreyu is modern metal...so something like......well...i can't really compare them to anyone else, but they're good.)

05-24-2005, 02:32 PM
Me... personally I like these songs, and if you wanna try listening to something new, start with this stuff.

Mudvayne - Happy
It's their latest single, and the song is amazing, some of the best Mudvayne I've ever heard.
Mudvayne - World so Cold.
It's an amazing song... what more is there to say.
another one from:
Mudvayne - Shadow of a Man
again, another amazing song.
last Mudvayne song, I promise:
Mudvayne - Under My Skin

I guess if you like metal, and you want a more modern version, then go with Mudvayne, they're awesome.

Some more metal:
Iced Earth - Angel's Holocaust
the song is amazing, but the intro is... there's no words to describe it.

And some of my favorite type of music, goth. The best goth band is AFI, hands down. They're more of a goth/punk/emo... it depends on the song you listen to. well, the songs I'd reccomend are:
AFI - Totalimortal
AFI - A Winter's Tale
AFI - Day's of the Phoenix

Lastly, some Punk/Rock at it's best:
Sum 41 - Heart Attack

Those are my recommendations. Believe me, it's all good :D :p

Naokomi ShYana
06-01-2005, 10:22 PM
I like everything, personally I am more into Poppy Rock sounding stuff, like Armor For Sleep and Underoath, I don't like to classify bands into genres very much. But I also really am into sort of fun sounding music like The Faint, Le Tigre, and HelloGoodbye type of music! I don't know how to classify those bands, but yess. Music is good. <3

06-03-2005, 01:57 PM
Here's a really really good song!

Yesterday's Rising - Fall From Grace

06-03-2005, 02:43 PM
The Streets - Blinded by the lights

I just love the video, the idea being him losing control as the night goes on as he takes more drugs & drinks.

06-05-2005, 07:11 AM

Yesterday's Rising - Time Holds the Truth / You Tell Me / Our Lucid Dream

Senses Fail - The Irony of Dying on Your Birthday

06-05-2005, 03:10 PM
I really like Heavy metal, and some oldschool punk is good, but I just can't stand any but a few rap songs, or anything country, new punk, or emo.

good songs, hm...
Black Sabbath - Iron Man
Nine inch Nails - Starfuckers Inc.
Rob Zombie & Ozzy Osborne - Ironhead
War - Low Rider
Rammstein - Asche zu Asche
Tomoyasu Hotei - Battle Without Honor or Humanity
Rammstein - Mein Teil
Rammstein - Feuer Frei!
Mindless Self Indulgence - You'll Rebel Against Anything (As Long as it's not Challenging)

and I could name plenty of others, but I'll withhold them for now

06-05-2005, 03:19 PM
i recommend : Addictions by Dougal and Gammer

06-05-2005, 03:35 PM
I dont like Punk/Emo/Screamo too much. Especially Atreyu, Blink 182 and that kind of bs. Too much whining. I'm more into the older stuff, such as Pink Floyd, The Beatles, Led Zepplin, etc.
Zepplin's nice because a lot of their stuff has norse mythology and some other things in it. And Pink Floyd & The Beatles; they're just trippy and have provided me with endless hours of musical genius.

06-05-2005, 04:35 PM

The Used- Take it Away, I Caught Fire, All That I've Got, etc. The whole CD is pretty good, in my opinion. Some of the songs are a bit, well, messed up...but, whatever.

Tsuna Kadiri
06-05-2005, 05:28 PM
Hm... Does anyone know what the band "CKY" would be classified as? I'm thinking Punk.. but then again maybe Metal.. O.o... Gah, I don't know.

Well, I'd reccomend CKY - "Attached At The Hip" .. cause it's a good song. Maybe it's more on the Punk side. Not the Wannabe Punk side, though.
