My friend, a devoted rock and metal "fanatic" (lol, hope, he doesn't see this thread, lol) is searching for some good jap rock/metal groups.
I'm not really knowledge in this, that's why I'm asking here, can anyone tell me of some good groups?

tnx ^_^

I think Gackt qualifies as j-rock. If no one else replies I'll hunt down some recommendations for you.

I love Dir En Grey. You should check them out, I think they are one of the best J-rock groups out there ^_^

I second the Gackt and Dir en Grey comments. If you listen to Gackt and like him you might want to check out his former band Malice Mizer.
You might want to check out Kagrra, Eve of Destiny, and Psycho le Cemu as well. They have some good stuff.

Plastic Tree, Tokyo Jihen, Mio Dix Mios, and...

Actually, I don't know what kind of band Melt Banana is. I've decided the lyrics are all in Retard.

Anyway, I really recommend Plastic Tree.
