Anyways, I love this manga and the anime doesn't really do it justice in my opinion. L isn't as childish as he is in the manga and he seems more creepy than he used to. Judging by the colored in covers of manga they also got his skin tones wrong.

The ending, chapter 107/108, was excellent in my opinion. The whole second half didn't seem like the first half. The first half was a battle between two minds. The second half seemed more like it was to show us how human Light really is. I loved that about the ending.

THANK YOU! Yes, Mello is GUY, I should know, he's my favorite character! Just look at him spazzing out on my avatar! Yeah, I admit that I thought he was a chick when I first saw him, but his definately a guy!

And the author of Death Note is Ohba Tsugumi, a pen name for some mysterious manga-ka...and the artist is Obata Takeshi, who illustrated Hikaru no GO.

Rem kills L and is not in the anime yet.
The new L so to say is his underlings witch are smarter then he is actually. They are two kids named Near and Mello, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_Note has a small description of them if you like to check it out.

This manga/anime is on my top 10 list, very good and the manga ended well I think. Would recommend it to anyone.

The anime is far from ending, its still being made in Japan.

Well, in any case - I really didn't like the ending >_< Not only do I feel like the second half of the manga just doesn't compare to the first half, the ending was a very painful thing for me to read XD

I love Death Note and Light xD I love the fact that the plot isn't one of those "common" ones so no one will think "oh look, there's another anime/manga that's about someone killing someone else with a notebook". Not so common, is it? I've read up to volume 35 and seen all episodes that are out right now...

The anime is soon to be finished and I can finally see for myself when Light will conquer the world! Though... I don't know the ending myself, so I can't say that he will. I just hope for it xD

also, for those people who are wondering whos the smartest person in death note, that would be L. the only reason he got outsmarted by Light was because of the fake 13-day rule which he made ryuku write, which determined a big part of the outcome. no spoilers here.

My friend has already downloaded it and she's gonna send me clips on my email account (can't wait!!). I was so sad when L died.. but it was such a beautiful scene.. L had such a peacful look on his face (kawaii!!). I'm really gonna miss him coz he was my fav char.. damn that Light! But then again I think Light is really a good guy just being a little confused... Personally I'd keep it so nobody would get his fingers on it. I wouldn't destroy it coz I wouldn't be able to talk to the shinigamis. They rule! Ryuk is the best! I like his attitude.. humans trully are interesting. I like Rem too (even though she killed L) coz she shows that even shinigamis can love.. I hope that later on the series will reveal more about them. Do you think Ryuk cares for Light, I mean in the way like Rem does or should I say did for Misa?

I haven't seen Near and Mello but I hope they'll be at least half as interesting as L was. But then again they prolly won't replace L's sexiness xDDDD

No, Ryuk doesnt give a rats *** about light. he's only in for the entertainment. he kills light in the end anyway.(which we all know by now so its not a spoiler) =)

I have, they're just brilliant and the actors are amazing, Kira is played by a well-known actor in Battle Royale and something else, you'll take notice and his father, the other Death Note and Death God's are pretty cool, I liked the graphics didn't mind, this is all being if you haven't seen it.

I actually-agree with both Raito and L. As odd as it sounds...I think thier both right. <<

But ya know, if I ever had a Death Note-I wouldn't want it for people...I'd want a Death Note for cars! x.X Those evil cars on the roads that you just want to have blow the hell up...like civilian hummers! It'd work the same way basically except that the lisense plate number would be the cars "name" and instead of a heart attack in 40 seconds of writing it-it's battery would have a complete meltdown and render the engine unusable because of all the battery fluid seeping out and into it!

Yeah, so I just finished watching the anime....very good! Of cousre, the entire time I was watching this series, I was being very critical to see how well it went along with the manga....and here's my little critique that I just wrote in my journal for deviantArt! Enjoy!

Being a devout fan of the Death Note manga, for the final episode of the anime, I was looking for an exact replication of Chapter 107. But instead, the writers and animators gave me something else...a small strang of humanity. Instead of dying in maddening, bloody glory, Yagami Light's death was peaceful and somewhat gave me hope that he had not completely gone mad with the power of KIRA...but that he was still that perfectly innocent star-student, just wishing for a better place.

However, my favorite part of the episode had to be Mikami's death. Instead of dying in prison days after the event at YB, he killed himself right then and there in a glourious splash of blood and insanity. And of course, little Miss Amane Misa had her last shining moment.

But all I really cared about was that Mello still pwned in the end, despite his death...and by GOD he did!!! Of course, the "fan-service" at the end showing the apparition of L before the dying Light was a sad, yet docile moment, and ended the series perfectly.

All in all, this was a fantastic series: anime, manga, movie and all. I would like to thank Ohba Tsugumi and Obata Takeshi for their brilliant series. It is definitely one of my favorite series ever...and they truly made it worth while. Thank You.

the ending from the anime was great! The sunset and the monologue of Ryuk created a remarcable ambient for the ending of this exclusive anime. Though I didn't really wanted Raito to die (and he acted kinda' pathetically actually... >_>), I think Near deserved to win in the end and to be the second L. That kid is really smart XD

I lol'd when I read the initial page two years ago with people confusing Yoshihiro Togashi with Takeshi Obata and Tsugumi Ohba, and that they thought Near and Mello were L's kids, not proteges.

On topic: Loved the manga, first I believe I ever bought the entire series in like a week or two. I had already read the last three chapters and while reading the rest of the series, I was trying to put together plot points that hadn't even been revealed yet, which ended in a horrible headache. Since I only have dial-up connection, I'm going to have to wait for Viz to bring the anime over here, but I give the manga a solid 10/10.
