Jesus Christ, it's unbelievable that the American comic industry even made it this far with this stuff. O_O;;;;

It's either Superman is an butthead or Lois is an arse, or Lois is an idiot, or Superman's "pal" keeps trying to kill him.

What's really sad is that all of these covers are real. They're NOT a joke of any kind.

but I guess all comics sucked back then...

Hon, watch your language...some people find that first statement offensive.

As for the comic covers...well, those were the days! I wish I had them in my collection!! (~_^)

O.o

Now that's something I wouldn't want to see on a cover.

Okay - "I'm curious" thing doesn't cut it for me.
Love the Indian Papoose one though, hehehehe...

Either they were really bored out of their minds or the series once was run over by MAD magazines.

Either way, these people back then who bought these issues must have lived in a sad, sad little world.

Ahaha, ingenious!

It's a shame they don't make comics like that. I liked Superman as an evil bastard :D

superman does <stink>.I was wondering that, myself. O.o

I think the actual story inside might explain the cover better, and the covers were just silly-looking to intrigue people.

I hope. e_e

O_o...how is it an offensive joke?
heck... how is it a joke?
all i gathered from it was that it was important for lois to be black for 24 hours.

That's really scary. I don't like the older superhero stories and comics, they're creepy and annoying (though quite a few new ones are now).

Ah, the old school super hero comics style... gotta love it..

I really like the "1950's nuclear family housewife propaganda poster" drawing style, that kind of comics has alot of charm.. Too bad they don't make stuff like that no more...

No, give me old school black&white drawings with lame freaky stories insted of this new fashioned cg and photoshop coloring stuff...

Good times

Old school comics, eh? Back in the days when Political Correctness did not exist! Is there any of Superman sparking up a cigar or anything? haha! :D

About the black woman thing: it is not especially offensive, it is perfectly fit for that time reality. In 1958, segregation wasn't abolished (or just "therorically") in the southern states. And just remember the Montgomery bus affair, in 1955. Rosa Parks, an old black woman who refused to give her bus seat to a white man and all the black people of that bus had to leave it, as a punishment for that awful act of hers. And John F. Kennedy (1961-1963), whom all his mandate had to contain southern black's repression. So that image was perfectly relevant at that time, since it wasn't easy and happy to be a black person.
Am I the only one to know a bit of american history? (The Quebec girl speaking here)

That one's just great. XD;; I never knew why no one could figure out he was Superman when the only difference was Clark wore glasses. o_O;

Ollie

Same thing with Cybersix - when she put her hair up, wore glasses and masculine clothes, her voice amazingly deepened and everyone took her for a man...even her hands became manly! O:

...I'm scared now. And here I thought Superman was supposed to be the too-nice goody-two-shoes... Yet there he goes killing people who won't marry him, or refusing to give people water so they die a slow, horrible death in the desert... I must say my favorite one is the one with him eye-beam-burning his father's day present. That's just...words cannot describe... XD

That's just too funny...I really wish that I had those comics... I like the ones were she marries Titanman and where she tries to become invisible.

Those are GREAT. The one with the water and the one where she MUST become BLACK. I almost can't believe they're real. If they are I need to get my hands on them! If the covers are that good, imagine what the actual filling is like! <3
