I got really bored so I decided to start a thread on dumb warning labels. Post them here.

Tesco Fruit Juice Carton
On bottom side: "Keep Upright".

Demazin Infant Drops
This formula may cause drowsiness, if affected do not operate heavy machinery or drive a vehicle.

Boot's Childrens Cough Medicine
Do not drive a car or run machinery.

Nytol Sleep Aid
Warning: May cause drowsiness

Or how about "May contain traces of peanuts" when there's none.

11-06-2004, 01:39 PM
Actually, that's not so stupid. A lot of people can die just from a possible trace of peanut. It's a safety precaution and a legality.

Pina Colada
11-06-2004, 01:59 PM
Yeah. They say that because where the product was made, people work with peanuts, and it could accidently come in contact with your product. They want to warn people allergic to peanuts that they probobly shouldn't eat it just in case.

How about this one :
One some christmas lights : For indoor or outdoor use only (as opposed to what? Outer Space?!?!!?)
One a Korean kitchen knife : Keep out of children.

Kewii

Something that always gets me is on shampoo bottles: Lather, Rinse, Repeat.

well now, there was a pic. of a sign in the newpaper that my dad showed me.

the sign said, "Beware, Sand" or ,"Sand". something like that.....
and the sign was in the middle of the desert.

now the next one.....
my dad bought a CD holder. it was really thin and probably could hold only up to 6 CD's. but anyway, on the back there was a tag and it said, "Beware, do not use as a flotation device."

who on earth would be stupid enough to use a CD holder as a flotation device, let alone having the CD holder be that small?!

1. On Sears hairdryer:

"Do not use while sleeping."

(But..., that's the only time I have to work on my hair)

2. On a bar of Dial soap:

"Directions: Use like regular soap."

(And that would be how. . . ?)

3. On some Swanson frozen dinners:

"Serving suggestions: Defrost."

(But it's "just" a suggestion)

4. On Tesco's Tiramisu dessert (printed on bottom of box):

"Do not turn upside down."

(Oops, too late!)

5. On Marks & Spencer Bread Pudding:

"Product will be hot after heating."

(Hmm . . . .)

6. On packaging for a Rowenta iron:

"Do not iron clothes on body."

(But wouldn't this save even more time?)

7. On Boot's Children's Cough Medicine:

"Do not drive a car or operate machinery after taking this

medication."

(We could do a lot to reduce the rate of construction accidents

if we could just get those 5-year-olds with head colds off those

forklifts.)

8. On Nytol Sleep Aid:

"Warning: May cause drowsiness."

(One would hope)

9. On most brands of Christmas lights:

"For indoor or outdoor use only."

(As opposed to underwater?)

10. On a Japanese food processor:

"Not to be used for the other use."

(I gotta admit, I'm curious.)

11. On Sainsbury's peanuts:

"Warning: Contains nuts."

(NEWS FLASH)

12. On a child's Superman costume:

"Wearing of this garment does not enable you to fly."

(I don't blame the company, I blame parents for this one.)

13. On a Swedish chain saw:

"Do not attempt to stop chain with your hands."

(Was there a chance of this happening somewhere? . . . Good grief!)

14. On a bottle of Palmolive Dishwashing liquid:

"Do not use on food."

(Hey, Mom, we're out of syrup! It's OK, honey, just grab the Palmolive

If we didn't have complete idiots, we wouldn't need dumb warnings. Unfortuneatly, my letters asking companies to remove these warnings haven't been answered. And the "Idiot Season" didn't go over to well.

Hmm. Old, but I never did post in it, so...here goes.

I work in a pharmacy. When we fill a prescription, certain little stickers print with it, in conjunction with what the medication is (Take on full/empty stomach, etc.). Pretty simple. And sometimes they're so obvious it hurts.

Mu number one favorite? Ambien, a well-known sleep aid, prints with the following label: "May cause drowsiness."
