View Full Version : What movies are good on the theatres today?

Yeah, I haven't been able to get much of a life outside currently, no thanks to university, but I do have some free time for the next couple of weeks, and I was considering going out to the movies with a couple of friends there, so I was just wondering if anyone knows what good movies are there that we can watch. Something romantic, something with a lot of action, just nothing really "scary" or obviously gory. Something that is very inspiring to us all, with a nice storyline for us intellected young adults. I don't wanna go out and watch a movie that isn't liked by many, and I haven't had a chance to look up the recent movie listings.

I would appreciate your help.
Thanks!

Nothing. You can't find one single good movie in the theatres today. All the good stuff is found on DVD.

Is that so? Okay, ignore the thread then. Gosh, that's a let-down...

<Since all the movies seem bad enough.>

**I SIMPLY ADVISE YOU TO IGNORE THIS THREAD**

Unfortunately I am not from Norway, in Canada actually, never heard of it from my friends, but that movie does sound nice. I'll look into it. Thanks ^_^

Final Cut with Robin Williams was good. Very well done and an interesting story. The Grudge was good for a scare, but the ending was rather weak. Team America is incredibly funny (it IS from the makers of South Park, after all). And um..hm.. I'll get back to you with any more.

Eudial was right, not many good movies on the theatre. I was planning to watch Hero, that classic movie and rent The Four Feathers from Blockbuster. I love that movie! ^_^

Well... I really do think Final Cut was good. It may be just the kind of thing you're looking for, actually.

Edit: Here's a page (http://www.themoviebox.net/movies/2004/DEFGH/Final-Cut/main-page.html) with some info on it.

I'm looking forward to "Alfie" (And not usually into romantic films ^^;; ) Largely because it's starring Jude Law whom I adore, and the music is sounding better than good ("Old Habits Die Hard" is on repeat on my player).

I'll be able to let you know more after seeing it ^^

The new Alfie is pretty poor sadly.. If you like Jude Law you'll love it though.

The new exorcist movie is almost as bad as Exorcist II... Stick to I and III for some real horror.

I saw a British movie called Layer Cake which is fantastic, and Hero is worth watching for some brilliant cinematography.

I have no idea what's playing in the US theaters, but in Japan there is a great movie out now called "Koi no Mon". It may be at SuprNova or something.

Since we are invaded by Hollywoodian movies (not american, because there is also an american cinema suffering from the previous type), we have the same crap, a little later. But if you go and fetch titles, classics in specialized theaters, it is something else.
