The target question is : How do you prefer your anime viewing experience? ...watching the English (or whatever your language) dubbed format or watching it in Japanese /w subtitles? I have always preferred watching the dubbed versions because I honestly feel that the English production staff seem to do an awesome job, especially in ADV Fillm's licensed titles. Of course, if I were asked this question several years ago I would by a longshot read subs instead. ...:Laughs:: A lof of the anime dubings years ago sucked really bad.
Quick Edit - I probably should have made this into a poll, but I don't normally make em'.

Mm! What a drag. Never knew such a thread already existed and I could have sworn I checked the preceding pages. How unobservant of me? ::Laughs:: Oh well. Anyway, to keep myself from veering completely off-topic...
Sometimes viewing dubbed products can be quite annoying, considering you'll sometimes hear the same voice actors / actresses appearing together in several different anime series. This is highly apparent in titles licensed by ADV Films. I know in such series as Full Metal Panic, Noir, RahXephon, all have Monica Rial, Hilary Haag, Chris Patton, and several other regulars in them. Think of it as a cheap form of plastic surgery. ::Laughs:: I mean.. usually when I'm viewing something by ADV Films I can point out "Hey! I know that voice! It's Nene Romanova from Bubblegum Crisis 2040!" ...sheesh.

I prefer subs most of the time. I know the dubbing companies do a good job, but it still annoys me how the voices change so much. Although, if I'm stuck with a dub, then I don't mind most of the time.

anyway...i guess...it depends on what mood i'm in...
but if i have a dvd and my bro's not around...i'll watch it in japanese
(my bro gets annoyed with it...cas he's nine and he doesn't wanna have to read the subtitles which go by pretty fast sometimes...well for him anyways...lol)

I definitely watch subtitled anime over dubbed, any time. Its just that some dubs are a LOT worse than others (KidsWB are really bad as opposed to dubs on Cartoon Network, for example). I would probably watch more subtitled anime if the anime DVDs were cheaper. -_-'

Japanese isn't a scary language.... It's actually really peaceful. You forget that what you're listening to are actors. The characters can't be bland, they need to have emotion, and the voice actors need to show that emotion when they talk. It's something that i think the japanese voice actors do extrordinarily well compared to the Voice actors in North America.
I prefer watching subbed Anime simply based on that fact.
Also, on a side note, I've recently begun studying the japanese language. Learning it has be very fun so far, and i'm guessing will be just as enjoyable for the remainder of the time I learn. Learning a new language isn't easy, but considering the fact that everything I enjoy originates from Japan, i want to learn that language.
I Plan on travelling to Japan in the next few years, and possibly living there for awhile, so knowing the language will help with that as well. You can also basically go anywhere and meet Japanese people, especially on the west coast, where i'm moving too pretty soon.

Depends on the quality of the dub. For the most part I will watch it in dub, and there are some that I love too much to watch the other way (Excel Saga, Evangelion, etc). But then there are some where the dubs are so atrocious that it simply has to be in japanese...for my own sanity (e.g. Love Hina, Azumanga Daioh, Galaxy Angel, etc.)

I prefer subs. One: English dubbing sucks, in my opinion. Two: I like hearing the original voice actors, and Japanese is a cool language.

I like watching clips in Japanese so I can hear the original voices of the characters but I don't really care if it's dub or sub,lol ^ ^ that's my opinion!!
