So this actually happened a week ago and I'm remembering it again just now and realizing what a naive, summer-child I really am.

A week ago my husband and I were watching some Super Mario animations/songs while drunk. While watching I finally...FINALLY...realized that Toad (the mushroom) is supposed to be a joke about male parts and Peach is...well, her juicy peaches.

I don't know how someone can get to be almost 30 and not see beyond just a mushroom kid and a princess but apparently I did it.

When I was a little kid and could read a little, but not very well, I thought it said "Your princess is in Arthur('s?) castle!" And I kept saying out loud, mad, "WHY AREN'T WE GOING TO ARTHUR'S CASTLE THEN?!

In the underground levels, my brother and his best friend would sing "Funny pepperoni" to that music. To this day I still sing it. No matter if it's SMB, NSMB, SMB3, whatever, it's still Funny Pepperoni.

I've been thinking of what singers have achieved consider worth listening to.

Like right now, social media and viral took everything and let pranks and funny stuff took over. For example, singers in the '90s and '00s worked really hard for their music to reach or at least to be heard. However, nowadays anybody can be a singer with just trend of posting a video through viral or social media making fun of himself/herself. Sometimes, they include anything related to sex which makes a song weird.

Personally, I stopped listening to music in 2012 and especially since Adele, Drake, Ed Sheeran, some K-pop groups, etc. I think anime or soundtrack is different since it expresses the story of the show, oh sometimes it's the same.

P.S.: I think no one cares about lyrics or vocals also I believe streaming destroy everything in the music industry on other hands companies make money regarding these issues.

I have a few artists I follow but I never turn on the radio. When I'm around others and hear current music, I cringe.


Like, I don't want to offend anyone here if they like her, but, back in the day I lost a LOT of friends because I didn't like Lady Gaga. I just didn't like her voice, and I lose a lot of respect for an artist when they say their own name in a song. It's a TAD better if it's a duet and one is saying the other's name. But anyway, They were all like, "But she was bullied in High School and she made a name for herself and she fights for the rights of others and..." And I'm just like, those are all reasons she might be a great PERSON, but have absolutely no impact on wither she is a good singer or not.


I actually do care about Lyrics, but I think I am in the minority. One of the few singers/bands I do follow (He is the lead singer of a band, but also does solo work) writes all his own music, and everything is usually about something that happened to him. The song that really made the band famous in the 90s was about his mom having cancer when he was a teenager. (But you'd never know that from the lyrics.) Another big hit for them was, when he was dating the woman he knew he would marry, and one day she just kind of realized she was dating a 'rock star' and was like, "I can't marry a musician, that won't work... They will always be on tour, and...." and so he wrote a love letter to her to stay. And the love letter almost word for word became a big hit for them. I like those kinds of songs that really have a story like that.

Just that the world seems to be a sad place anymore where if you think differently then someone else, you are automatically stupid to them. - I'm not even just talking about the big hot button things like religion and politics (but those too.) But even smaller things. I dunno if it's because of the internet, or just the state of the world, or if I just didn't realize as much when I was younger. I think more people should respect each other more.
