I'm not sure if you're trying to impress but wow that sounds like a waste of $$. Not going to lie but someone should moderate your spending habits Toaster. Especially at that young of age. o.o

Worth: $218 ($55 with sales)
Games owned: 13
Games not played: 2 (15%)
Hours on record: 1,398.0h

The 1K hours is from a single game alone. I pick my games and get my full monies worth out of them. The games I haven't played are for PC and I have a mac. But.... just in case I guess.

A lot of it it's Humble Bundle indies and games that I've on console and thought I would play them again on PC. Latter either really cheap via a Steam sale or Humbe Bundle. I actually stopped caving in into Steam sales though.

Nah, not trying to impress. I'm well aware that a lot of people have way more games. Still, $3.3k in 11 years isn't a whole lot of money really. Considering a lot is from deals or Humble Bundles it's probably much closer to $1.5k

Exactly. With Humble Bundles, you can score 10-15 games easily with just 5 dollars.

Yup, not to mention Steam often has sales with games at ridiculously low prices. I rarely buy anything at full price anymore.

Just because it's on sale doesn't mean you should buy it. If you buy a game at $5 and never play it that's $5 you wasted. Multiply that by 61 unplayed games. Such a waste of $$.

Steam is so good about getting you for that. "oh it's only a few dollars" -next sale- "oh it's only a few dollars" eventually you get a hoard of games you never intended to play that amounts to way more that a few bucks.. It's a total waste of money if you buy something and don't use/play it. But that's just me.

Try to convince yourselves all ya want but.... Steam wins in the long run.

No one is trying to damage control or comfort the situation (he didn't say it was not a waste of money). He's pretty much saying the the reason is easy to stack up unplayed Steam games is because of sales that physiologically puts in the situation where you have to buy it. Many people are victims of that.

So don't you think that a 18 year old victim to seam sells should have someone moderate their spending habits then? Though they say 11 years and 3K isn't bad, But that means this "kid" has been a victim of steam sales since they were 7 years old. Good grief either way.

Anyone who falls for the Steam sales should be more conscious and try to be less impulsive. It doesn't matter what their age is. He's just saying the reason why he stacked up so many games is the same reason why many stacked up so many Steam games. It's not even Steam tbh, as many people have huge backlogs even on consoles. I mean, if he could have bought every game on release date, full price, that could've been worse and not even remotely excusable. At least with the Steam sales, it's bad, but it's a common situation.

Besides, he could've been some white kid with rich parents that bought him games for the past 11 years, so not his fault, but his parents.

When I was 7 years old I wasn't the one buying the games, it was my parents. So in that case, they were "victims" which I disagree with anyway because every game I had bought for me got played. I don't buy games just because they are on sale either, never have and never will. Any unplayed games I have are games that were in a Humble Bundle, I assume you know what they are but often a Humble Bundle has 5 or 6 games I want and 1 or 2 that I will never play, that racks up to a lot of games that I will never play but is cheaper than if I was to buy the games on sale separately.

Regardless, I don't buy much other than games and I've never really been in a situation where I was like "Darn, If I hadn't spent all that money on games I could've got this." Maybe in the future when I move out and I'm responsible for a lot more I will spend less on games, like you said, 18 is a young age so it's not like I have other responsibilities that the money is needed for. Still, I appreciate the concern, don't mistake any of what I say for hostility because I know you aren't saying this out of malice. I just completely disagree.
