So I'm sure some of you have seen or heard something about this game somewhere, but I'll summarize it.

BDO is an open world MMORPG coming out soon. It currently has a Korean version, but the NA version is set to release in the "early quarter of 2016" as there is no date confirmed yet. Closed Beta 2 is going to in February.

Prices -
The game is B2P (Buy to play) so just a one time purchase. There are founder packs right now for pre-order which give you a number of benefits and exclusive stuff that will never be available again. Some examples are 1, 2, and 5 day early acces depending on what pack you get. You also get to reserve you character name and family name plus a bunch of cool exclusive stuff. The prices are $29.99, $49.99, and $99.99.

Game Content & Features
- Open World
- Guilds
- Multiple professions (Trading/Merchant, Hunting, Horse Breeding/Taming, Fishing, Alchemy, Farming + more)
- PvE, PvP, Siege
- 7 of the 9 classes confirmed for launch (possibly 8)
- Guilds can control territories & land
- Player Killing outside of arenas
- Can be Outlaws (red flag players, basically PK'ers)
- Player housing (not in separate instances)

Pros -

- Appeals to any playstyle
- Immersive
- Not P2W or P2P
- Amazing character creation
- There's so much to do
- Not many open world MMORPG's out there now
- 9 unique classes

Cons -

- Some classes are gender restricted
- Your horses can die
- Need to have a prety good PC to play it
- No max level (though this could be a pro)
- Soft cap level 50 is too easy to hit (again could be a pro)


So I'll add more soon but one thing that got me is there's no fast travel, you have to travel the entire world on horseback, camel, donkey, or raft/boat. Also it's not P2W and the currency (silver) isn't hard to earn like many games out there today. The social features are a plus too. I'll continue to update this as I get more info and play the KR version more.

Yeah I really enjoy this game. The graphics in my opinion are top notch, and the character customization is excellent.

I also really like the player housing feature. Any games with this already catch my interest xD

Hopefully it has a big population, that would definitely be ideal.

Also, anyone interested should go to the official website (https://www.blackdesertonline.com/events/ccm/) and download their free character creator program. It's super awesome and lets you see how detailed the creation process is.

Really need to get the Conqueror's Package. It's one of the reasons I didn't buy into Blade and Souls and will probably stop playing it once BDO drops. I'll post some of my stuff once the character creator finishes downloading and installing.

I plan on getting it once I get the money. I played some kind of Russian version a while back and really really liked it, so it's totally worth it IMO.

Right. Money is a one issue but also that other games will be coming during the first quarter of this year. There's so many games that are coming out in February and March and it's hard to keep up, haha. Luckily, my hook ups already got me covered for some of them, so I should be okay. Either way, priorities, and I'm really interested in this so I'll try to get this above everything else.

EDIT: Considering I missed out on the Nights of Azure Limited Edition, it's more doable than I can get the Conqueror's Pack.

I got into the beta cause I'm Kaitou, but considering how websites are giving away codes, some even up to 900 codes, it should be fairly easy to get into the beta.

VG247 was giving away 5,000 codes too it seems. Go to DualShockers if you want a code. Hope that there's some available out of the 900.

I also got a beta key ^^ luckily a friend of mine told me about it and sent me a website link, so I was able to get one.

I'm downloading it right now o: I'm so excited to play! I downloaded their free character creation program a few weeks back and already have a character made xD so I won't have to waste time going through the intense customization process.

Not sure if this was mentioned but I heard it was an open world pk environment, where you could get pk'd anywhere. I thought this sucked at first but it sounds like they did the penalties right so it won't happen often. If you're "red" from killing other players and die you have a chance to drop your amour/weapons when killed. This would somewhat prevent people from being a-holes lol.

A few years ago I was looking forward to Black Desert but now not so much. The graphics are really pretty but I'm skeptical seeing as it's free to play. That being said I haven't looked too much into the combat system or anything else other than really old videos and some newer screenshots. When I try it I may be pleasantly surprised though.

It's not free to play.. ? O_o at least last time I checked it wasn't. They were doing an open beta but the actual game is a one time payment to play.

It's F2P in Korea and (Japan?) so you weren't wrong. I think the game is essentially F2P since you get extra stuff (https://www.blackdesertonline.com/shop/GamePass.html) (not sure if they are worth their price) when you buy the North American versions.
