This is a cartoon about a boy in modern times who is the reincarnation of an ancient Egyptian prince. However he doesn't know anything about his past life, until one day at the Egypt exhibit at a museum he is attacked by an evil sorcerer who had a grudge against his father (that is his father in ancient times, not his current father), the Pharaoh, since ancient times. He is defended by 4 mummies who are his personal bodyguards. And from that point on, this boy's life will never be the same, now having to always watch out for the forces of evil, and call on his supernatural defenders, the mummies, to protect him when he's in danger. And these are no ordinary mummies. These mummies can henshin into a powered up form, and kick some serious butt (or as they call it on this cartoon "kicking tut"). Also the mummies don't fully understand our modern technology, and often say things like "horseless chariots" to refer to cars, or "spirit box" when referring to a TV.

You can get it on DVD on Amazon.com http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000OY9VC0 though I don't think it has the complete series. There's also a torrent if you look around, that has all the episodes. Don't normally recommend a torrent, but until a DVD is made that has all the episodes, your only hope to see all the episodes outside of a torrent is if you can find somebody who recorded the original TV broadcast of all the episodes on VHS tapes, and who would be willing to sell you those tapes.

Here is the box art of the DVD (that sadly has only a few episodes).

It was a great show.

And during the 90s I believe either Tim Curry or Cree Summer were required to appear in EVERY animated series.
