Let's raise the level in here. Who is your favorite non-cartoon/comic book artist?

I like a lot of fantasy artists and a few renaissance works, but my favorite is M.C. Escher. The man was a genius

Dali's stuff is a trip to see in person. It's not necessarily my favorite art style but it sure is interesting, especially discussing the implications and whatnot with friends. Because you can pretty much bet that you'll see something else than they will.

Tbh most of MC Escher's style is too geometrical for me. I prefer nature and scenery. Landscapes are my absolute favorite, they inspire me like nothing else can. As for a favorite artist I seriously don't think I could choose.

Ugh. I have too many favorite artists. All of them are great artists.
But Gaborovna is the most creative creative and inspired me to draw realistically. ^_^

I actually own a Dali print from his Divine Comedy series. But be careful buying Dali. Towards the end of his life he sold blank paper with his signature on it to galleries which would then print just anything on them.

I like what you would call 20th Century classics, like Chagall.

And great photographers, like George Hurrell:

I constantly look to these guys for inspiration;

Stanley Lau - I love his lines, they're very deliberate and purposeful. I rarely see a single line he's done where he's hesitantly done it.
Guweiz - I can always feel the flow of his work, its amazing. He fully understands his style.
CTchrysler - He's love for his OC ad her universe is something that I can very well relate to.
Kuvshinov Ilya - Amazing with the use of negative space, he also understands well the range of he's styles.
Wlop - He's journey in discovering he's own style has been amazing to watch, the unmistakable style he currently has is breath taking.

People sometimes ask me the same question about who I like, and when I give them this response of a bunch of names that they're not familiar with they question the validity of these said artist.
I think its about who has been able to influence me the most, I don't seek thought evoking pieces of art from centuries past. I look for artists that I could maybe relate with, since their works are a response to the time I'm living in- its almost tangible. That's why I chose them ^^
