i heard all the hype and read that there was swordplay, so i was like hell yeah, this is right up my alley! then i watched the first episode and was confused and disappointed. i could barely follow any of the action because SO MUCH was happening on the screen. when the boxer guy punched, weird rectangle things protruded from his gloves in over the top fashion.

yeah this show just isn't for me. i acknowledge the amazing animation but the style just doesn't suit me. there's soooo much happening on the screen i couldn't follow a battle between two friggin' people.

While I respect your decision, I do think you may be making a mistake and here is why. Kill La Kill is an anime I also disliked in the first episode (maybe even first few), but got so adapted to it that it may just reach my top fifty favorites of all time. You don't need to give it a 2nd attempt, but at least think about it.

well normally over-the-top anime don't bother me (fan of flcl here), but the action in this show is so hard to follow. in flcl i could at least tell what was happening at all times, but the animation of kill la kill gets so intentionally distorted at times that i just can't get into it. characters warp too much. i'm not chastising the show at all for its production value or story - the production value is just as over the top as the show itself and the story was interesting enough. not great but passable. it's just that i'm so used to watching shows like samurai champloo, vampire hunter d, cowboy bebop etc, where each move is crisp and easily detected.

kill la kill would be amazing for me if it were approached more traditionally. i was absolutely amazed by the first, say, 15 minutes of the episode, but by the time the fanservice outfit rolled around and the protagonist fought the boxer dude, i was really disappointed at the style.

i might give it another shot, i didn't exactly give it a chance to grow on me. but there is one thing i don't and will never like - the fanservice. the show was crazy enough without the protagonist's breasts being barely covered. it adds nothing to the show for me.

I'll save you the trouble and don't waste your time on this series. It isn't your cup of tea is all.

Great choice. If you can get by the lump that is the early reactions from the show you may get, then you may end up liking it.

Last episode got motherfukken intense, I hope ryuko and satsuki finally become friends.
Also this anime reminds me of the game metal gear rising

Nui is objectively the best character

Im watching it, but im behind on like 5 episodes. I used to watch it with my brother, but then was told "....this next episode....theres a really uncomfortable scene....watch it on your own" and Ive been behind since. Apparently it involves Satsuki and her mother and was far worse than the previous grope-ish encounter with her. I'll probably try to catch up tonight.

The scene is a little out there, but tame compared to some other anime. Trust me!

I'm guessing they will become friends or at least close to it. Nonon Jakuzure is still my favorite character though!

It's like, Metal Gear Rising, S-cry-ed, and Scott Pilgrim all rolled into one.
I have been enjoying this anime. Also, I wish I could be HALF as glorious as this...

I had been watching it, but is too lazy to download the latest episodes.
I wasn't thinking much when I started to watch it. Episode 1 totally blasted my senses out of me. From start to the end, I was like, "WTF!?" But it kept me watching, so it's good. I like the way the fanservice slips into it so easily, but not cliched. In fact, it helps in the comedy and there is actually MEANING to SUCH an anime. It's not like, "HEY, WE'RE GONNA FIGHT, SO JUST WATCH US AND THIS STORY IS NOTHING BUT FIGHTS." Kill la Kill has great potential, I'm really surprised it gained so much popularity. I'm glad I started watching it.

Big fan of the show, saw a picture of the main character while I was looking through for more Win7 theme's, and her design made me want to watch it. Was not disappointed at all when I did.

This is the Win7 skin I shall download to commemorate this great anime.

I didn't think I'd enjoy it from watching the first few episodes, but it gradually builds on you, and it gets more intense as you watch it get to its climax.

Don't doubt yourself too much. Some reviewers say that the show isn't objectively that great: http://animemoonblogger.blogspot.com/2014/03/critically-analyzing-kill-la-kill.html

Yeah, but every anime always has at least one reviewer bashing it for something.
