View Full Version : Water is Poisonous

Water distributed within cities and towns contains additives which do not occur naturally in the body, like fluoride. Therefore, it is poisonous.

Discuss.

It's old news; they've been putting drugs in the water supply to control people for years.

Btw; you think that's air you're breathing?

Not everything that doesn't occur naturally in the body is harmful. Essential amino acids (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Essential_amino_acids) don't occur naturally, but you NEED them. Here are other elements essential to a human body (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Composition_of_the_human_body#Essential_elements_o n_the_periodic_table). Nevertheless, Fluoride is indeed toxic especially at significant concentrations (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fluoride_toxicity).

Both Fluoride and Calcium are necessary for the remineralization of teeth (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Remineralisation_of_teeth). Here's the mechanism (http://www.animeforum.com/en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fluoride_therapy#Mechanism).

Fluoride therapy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fluoride_therapy) works topically, i.e. you don't intake Fluoride orally for it to work. And technically, everything is radioactive to some degree (http://www.iem-inc.com/prevery.html).

Then by your logic, salt would be poisonous too. Why not stop eating that for a few days and see what happens?

This reminds me of Squidbillies episode: Young, Dumb and Full of Gums.

In the end, their teeth fell out, oral hygiene products were outlawed, and everyone had to employ Dan Halen's chewing service (like birds do for their young).

And DeathBlade/13.666 suggests this type of show is of a 6 year old's intellect ...

In all seriousness though, since so much toothpaste already includes fluoride, we probably don't need fluoridated water anymore. But fluoridated water really did us a huge service in the past!

Oh, sorry 'bout that. Here's the fixed one (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fluoride_therapy#Mechanism).

Unfortunately, my current job won't allow me to replace a product's ingredients. It usually takes civil awareness and effort to force a company's R&D group to opt to safer alternatives. But according to EWG.org (a highly reliable and trusted source), Methyl ethyl ketone (http://www.ewg.org/skindeep/ingredient/703892/METHYL_ETHYL_KETONE/) is currently not found to be that dangerous. I could just recommend that you minimize your exposure as much as you can.

this is freaking stupid. Just because the body doesn't naturally generate it, does not make it poisonous. By the logic you're using, Iron, potassium, and zinc would all be "poisons." And the body doesn't work without them. Therefore, you're dumb.

The properties of Methyl propyl ketone is not very different from Methyl ethyl ketone (since only the ethyl substituent is replaced with propyl; the latter is just a carbon longer than the former). If your MSDS is well-documented, then you have a reason to believe it.

Now, if each person consumes one banana, how many people would be needed in, say, one square kilometre to generate enough radiation to kill everyone in the area by way of banana consumption alone?

It's not a case of pulling the troll card at the last second, it's a case of seeing how many people would respond seriously to something stupid.

I don't like to drink just tap water (it does make me gag) but I know it's not poisonous. If things not naturally generated by the body were poisonous, a lot of people would not make it past infancy. Hell, I'm on my second can of Coke right now - if my claim of artificial chemicals being poison was true, I'd be getting my stomach pumped.

I used the same argument the second time I posted. It's the same argument. I was doing it to hopefully frustrate someone. This whole thread was a trolling attempt, and yet you still take my word seriously. This is what I'm talking about - if someone posts something stupid, either as a joke or to mess with people, some people take it seriously. It's ridiculous.

If your MSDS is well-documented, then you have a reason to believe it.Right which is why our tech data and processes list the two together (Like so: MEK/MPK). And Boeing assures me our MSDS's are well documented for OSHA regulations, EPA regulations, SHEA regulations, and FAA regulations. On that note. Save my kidneys! ;.; Also having less chemicals that are known carcinogens to work with would be nice too.

Water is only dangerous when it is over consumed. When over consumed it causes a condition that is called hyponatremia, in which excess water flushes too much sodium out of the body. Sodium is one of the human body's most important electrolytes and is necessary for proper muscle and nerve function. Severe symptoms of this condition include seizures, coma, and death.

Which is why we have Gatorade, PowerAde, and other sports drinks.

Discuss.

Kind of an ambiguous statement. Exactly what method of distribution are you referring?

Regardless, pure water has the capacity to act as a poison when consumed in vast excesses. Similarly, anything added to water can have the same effect depending on dosage regardless of whether it is naturally produced in the body or otherwise. Directly correlating that a substance not made in the body would therefore poison it, is false.

Also, getting angry at people for doing what the thread says i.e. discussing the topic, is stupid, even if you are trolling.

It does not occur in the body, but it does occur (along with other minerals) in water. Tap water has unusually *few* of these things.

Or I could get myself some false teeth and besides if I'm watching tv I could be watching anime all the time so its not all bad being stuck with other senile folk, perhaps they wouldn't even bother asking dumb questions because they would have forgotten there was another person sitting near them. Wearing a nappy on the other hand (the UK equiv of the diaper) might be a tad inconvenient but then again it would save having to keep getting up to go to the toilet.
