The Wicked Years is a saga written by Gregory Maguire, and is quite simply fanfiction. It is based off of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by some dude named L. Frank Baum. I had to look that up. It really is a fantastic series of books. It explores the political and social climate of Oz as well as the history of the Wicked Witch of the West and so much more. The first book, Wicked, is about our favorite wicked witch and her demise. I won't go into detail about the rest of the books, mostly because the titles are pretty self-explanatory, but also because you should just go read them. It is so much more than just Dorothy and the Witch and Glinda. It has suspense, romance, treason, murder, comedy, political strife, bigots, religious freaks, and it is so well written.
