Ha, I bet you thought I was never going to finish this, didn't you? (Uh, those few of you who even know who I am...) But you were wrong. I know it took me well over a year, but I was just, uh, biding my time. Waiting for the right moment. Yeah.

Anyway, Sound Horizon being as wonderfully yet headache-inducingly complicated as it is, I'd very much appreciate feedback.

黄昏の賢者 - Tasogare no Kenja [Savant] - The Twilight Sage

彼の名は『賢者――

[b]NOTES:

The words in square brackets are what is sung, where it differs from what is written in the lyrics booklet.

The sections in regular parentheses are not in the lyrics booklet at all, and I'm going off of a patchwork of different transcriptions that I found on the internets, with some help from my own ears. There's not that much variation in the transcriptions that I found, but those portions are still... iffy.

Thanks in advance!

o_o! I didn't know Roman had this undone. Mind if I do the transliteration?

Sure, go for it! I'll keep an eye out for it so that I can submit the translation once the translit is up.

I think 因数分解 is "factoring" not "factorizing", or at least that's what I learned in school lol. (I could be wrong.)

産むべきか ←→ 産まざるべきか…
それが最大の…謂わば問題だ…

'Should I have the baby ←→ or not...'
That is your greatest problem... so to speak...

Here I somehow see an allusion to Shakespeare, but maybe I'm just reading too much into it? XD

To have the baby ←→ or not to have the baby...
that is the question...the greatest question if I may say.

Of course this is just my personal take. Feel free to go with yours~

Haha, you can see how well I remember my math education.

Reading too much into a Sound Horizon lyric? Surely not. XD I like that interpretation, so I think I'll steal it. Thanks!

to me it has always been "factorize"... hm.

The JP version of the Hamlet quote is indeed 生きるべきか死ぬべきか、それが問題だ。 So it's not about reading too much into it, it's better to look at it that way. Props to animeyay for spotting it out.

So, I checked the dictionary, and it appears both "factor" and "factorize/factorise" are accepted as verbs, and they mean exactly the same thing, too. The Wikipedia page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Factorization) also confirms that both "factorization/factorisation" and "factoring" can be used for the noun form.

I guess each country has its own preference. When I was in school, for example, it was always "8 factors into 2×4", not "8 factorizes into 2×4".

And thank you Azu-san for double-checking on the Shakespeare reference :)

I'm pretty sure I learned it as "factor" too, just that the dictionary I was using gave me "factorize" instead. Having changed it once, I'm now too lazy to change it back, considering it's correct either way.

And yes, Azu, thanks for looking up the Shakespeare quote!

That's okay! I really have no room to criticize, myself. Anyway, thanks for the heads-up; I've submitted the translation now.

I think there's a mistake with the categorization; the song is in an album of its own now. xD
