Watching boondocks and the first episode is where rilo is friends with a bad kid and he wants to stop being friends with him so in the end he was kidnaped by the kid at gunpoint. The 2nd episode is where rilo turns in to a gangste but instead of drugs he sells candybars but they keep the profit but in the end all the money gets donated to peta

I haven't seen much but it's pretty funny. The opening credits are the best

I've loved this show for a long time. I alway get a good laugh from uncle Ruckus (no relation). The show has alot of great moments, most of which I can't discuss here.
Did they ever get a third season?

There's 3 seasons already, and they've announced that there will be a 4th season. Though it's TBD right now.

I cannot decipher the OP.

Anyways, as good as this series is (and series 2 and 3 had awesome animation ... also I would totally buy that Eff Grandad song if it was a full-length single on iTunes), I'm not sure it's a PG-13 show. Discretion, lol. :P

Reading this actually makes me want to go watch it again.

It was first announced in this video.

But in Comic Com 2011, the voice casting director Andrea Romano announced that it's in the producton phase, despite no official announcement from Aaron McGruder or Adult Swim.

I did a bit of research on the show before I started watching it, and the creator says the animation style is heavily based on anime. Thoughts on this?

Also, a lot of the subjects the characters discuss in the show are highly controversial. Do you think the show should be uncensored, censored, or cut off for good?

There is already a boondocks thread in the western/non jp animation-section :) http://www.animeforum.com/showthread.php?107347-The-boondocs

Thanks for the heads up SuXrys. FYI, mentioning doesn't work for me so please use private messages or visitor messages for quicker responses. ^.^

Srk, don't feel bad man. It gets hard to spot threads in this section sometimes even for me.

IIRC, the second and third series were actually animated by Madhouse, who (as you should know) are a Japanese animation company.

True story.

Are you wearing a wire?

Anyway, this is my favorite show. Uncle Rufus, Grandad, every character makes the show worth watching over and over again!

Yea, but it's originally a comic strip done in the U.S.. And don't forget Stinkmeaner, Samuru.

Isn't this a racist cartoon/comicstrip? It seems to be about blacks living in the housing projects, which is racist because not all blacks are poor or live in the projects. Why focus only on those who do? This seems to just stereotype blacks and perpetuate racist ideas.

Why focus only on those who do? This seems to just stereotype blacks and perpetuate racist ideas.Actually you're correct and incorrect. The Boondocks contextualizes stereotypes, racial, and non-racial (gang, rap, or drug related) issues within the black community in a satirical. The main characters don't live in the projects, they live in a nice suburban neighborhood. What's nice is the wide range of issues they cover for folks. Many of these issues aren't just "black" related. I mean, you have Granddad and Uncle Ruckus from the older generation that had to fight for their civil rights. And Uncle Ruckus is a special case too, being that he's racist against blacks even though he is black. Huey and Riley are kids growing up with all the crap of today. Huey is more serious in tends to follow the a more politicial activist's stance, and Riley is all up in the gangsta rap life style. Plus you can't forget about Tom Dubois and his family being that Tom is a successful black man and has an interracial family.

Really if you think about it, The Boondocks is like Doonesbury for black people. Though the show, of which is based on the comic, in some ways falls short of and at times goes beyond what the comic strip can.

I heard there was gonna be a big announcement about The Boondocks being revealed today, and i thought it was gonna be about season 4. But this shocked me a bit:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gy9JFXA8Mmo

Apparently, they want to make a movie based off Uncle Ruckus. But i guess Sony didn't want to back this idea, so Aaron McGruder (the creator of The Boondocks) made a page on Kickstarter to get the money to make this film. And yes it will star Gary Anthony Williams (the voice of Uncle Ruckus). Here's the Kickstarter (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/362353100/the-uncle-ruckus-movie) page if y'all want to look at it.

Oh and here's a video about some news on season 4:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qu-7Zt4hu2M

I guess maybe we haven't seen the last of Stinkmeaner.

Oh I can't wait for an Uncle Ruckus film! It's gonna be more racist than Gran Torino.

Riley: Pause! You said something gay, so you've gotta say "no homo," or you're a homo.
Granddad: I'm not saying "no homo." All I said was I'm going to give him everything I've got.
Riley: Pause, Granddad! That is gay, and you've gotta say "no homo." How am I supposed to know you're not a homo, Granddad, if you don't say "no homo."

That's one of the scenes that really got me.

N-moment as well.
