Are there any other fans on AF? who are your favorite writers and books?

It's been ages, but I remember as a young teen reading through my moms collection of old harboiled stuff. Mickey Spilane writing Mike Hammer sort of books.

Due to the content and it being my mom I don't know if I ever really asked about how or why she got into those.

Anyway I obviously thought they were pretty good at the time. Certainly those writers were establishing the archtypes we see today, and they knew how to make a pulpy page turner.

Well if mistery can count as crime (since it involves it) then maybe Arthur Conan Doyle (creator of Sherlock Holmes) and Agatha Christie(the autor of Poirot)

Read a few authors like Rankin and Evans but have really got into Stuart MacBride, his books go for realism rather than complexity, closer to the Italian movie Gommorah in their feel as opposed to the clean and fantasy like atmosphere of other authors.
