Inspired by chat: So...did your parents (or anyone you know) ever give you "the talk"? My mom never gave me the talk, but she didn't really need to.

It's not awkward unless you make it that way.
Why would your mom talk to you instead of someone with the same genitalia?

My dad gave me talk but I had no idea what was going on.
Then he tried again and I got it.
Man remember "the talk" makes me think how I may have to give " the talk" someday.

My dad was more like "Eh, he'll learn about eventually. No need to rush it." I have a feeling they both knew I wouldn't need it though...

My parents never gave me "the talk", but instead threw me in multiple sex ed classes.

Not really. The first one(back in middle school) was, but the other 3 weren't. It irritated me since my parents thought i would be some sex crazed kid like everybody else in the neighborhood, where actually i was a geeky kid and didn't even have a chance with a girl. So in a way it wasn't really necessary. However, my older brother would have benefited from it.

My dad decided to wrap "Vacation" and "The Talk" together... So... Yeah... It was weird, but not all that awkward. I just wanted my vacation time back.

It was a kind of passing in the hallway one day with something like, "oh, hey, btw".

To which my sentiments were something like, "I sorta figured as much".

I never received "the talk."

Then again, I correct my mom and dad's vocabulary on a regular basis, so talking to me about... sex(idk) would be most difficult.

YOU TALK THE TALK, BUT CAN YOU WALK THE WALK?!

In related news, no, I never got "the talk". It actually took me reading to the 10th post in this thread to actually understand what you mean by "the talk". I was under the impression it was one of those "Now see here, this is why you are a bad member of society!" talks but obviously I'm completely wrong.

Real talk.

Haha, same here. Had to read every post to really understand what everybody was talking about.

I've never had the talk.. probably because my parents don't care. Yeah.. thats probably it :)

The whole conversation with my dad lasted about five secants:

Dad: do you know about the birds and the bees?
Me: Yup
Dad: Ok then *leaves*

My dad hates awkward situations. And between heath class and the internet I knew more than my fair share about it.

Um...I think my mom did (and maybe my dad) but I probably had no idea what they were talking about.
I've only heard it once (maybe twice) but I never really needed it because most likely I learned it somewhere else...like tv.

I think my parents struggled more to keep me off the internet than they did to not give me "the talk."

seriously ... as I already said, they never mentioned it. But christ, I never heard the end of my dad whining about me using the computer. >_>

Real Talk.

Hahaha, the title of this thread. XD...Anyways, so my mom told me when I was little that babies come from the mommy's tummy, but I never asked her how, cause I assumed that they came out of the belly button. As far as with how I found out about sex, it wasn't through my parents, it was through my friends, because I tended to hang out with older people so they ended up telling me what sex is. One day when I was a teenager, I told my mom that I wanted to get myself some thongs, and that's when she found out that I know what sex is. It was funny though when I told her I wanted to buy myself some thongs, cause she was like, "Why do you want a string up in your butt? That sounds so uncomfortable!" Ever since that moment, she became totally comfortable with talking about sexual topics and sex with me, actually I think the reason that I'm so comfortable with talking about sex and sexual topics with people, is because my mom was cool with talking to me about it, so I am thankful for that and being there for my friends, my sister, and other loved ones to be able to comfortably talk about sexual topics with them whenever they want to talk about that stuff with me.

My mom has tried to give me the talk. But all she says is to not do it and to wait till I'm on the pill. But even then I don't think I can even take them due to health reasons o.O She fails pretty miserably every time while talking about it. Even her bf said she avoids the topic. Oh well she still tells me not to do it even though I guess it's kinda too late. -.-

I learned at school. My parents doesn't know that I had an idea until I went to middle school. They assume that I would already know right now.
I laughed when my mom said to my sisters when they learned about it in middle school, "In the Philippines, it was taught to those who got married and in their 30s." I lol'd hard.

Is it wrong that I knew it before getting "the talk"(dad reads pr0nz)? My 'rents gave me those when I was 8. They were surprised at the stuff I know.

Nah. A bunch of us found porn like in kindergarten, and we turned out relatively fine. Thing is, while a lot of parents think this will like ruin their kinds minds, it's not really the case. Before puberty, you simply don't grasp the concept of sexual attraction, so it's just a bunch of naked people doing strange things, shrug, and move on, with out any sort of stigma (unless you make a huge fuss about it, then it truly will mess them up.)

Didn't get the talk, but I worked out most of my self. Sex infects you with a parasite that twists your mind into thinking it's a good thing, then painfully bursts out of your nether regions after 9 months and then steals your money and soul for 20 years.

My parents never did, but my aunt did. She made it sound like she's talking to an 8 year old when I was 18, she could have just out right said it. lol. My reactions were...well I was embarressed because of all the people I had in my family, only my aunt brought that topic up xD. She asked if me and my gf ever went beyond kissing and truthfully, no, but my reactions (blushing, not looking her in the eyes, acted like a totally tsundrey, which scared me even to this day o_O) probably made her think we did...xD

Hmm. I don't think my parents ever gave me "the talk". We learned about reproduction in Health class in school. Other than that, I got my info from friends. I had some pretty promiscuous friends who liked to talk about their adventures. lol

I never recieved the talk. Haha. But after doing the things involved
in the talk, I always just talked with my mom about it. I tell my mom
most everything. Lol. I dunno.. A lot of people think you have to have
this so called talk to warn your children or whatever. Eh.. I think they will
be fine without it!

Eh, not in so many words, but I grew up the only child of a single parent, so I had to grow up pretty fast. My mom was good at making sure I knew to stay protected.

^This.

Amongst the internet, television channels my mother would've taken a hatchet to if she found out about them, and the occasional book here and there, I pretty much learned everything I needed to.
