I hope I did not oversee a thread called like that..
But I can't believe there is no topic like that! What is your opinion about the game? (And are you also curious about the second game?) Do you even know it? Do you like it?
For everybody who never heard of Dragon Age (Origins), here is some information, stolen from wikipedia.com:

"Dragon Age: Origins is a single-player role-playing video game (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Role-playing_video_game) developed by BioWare (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BioWare)'s Edmonton studio and published by Electronic Arts (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electronic_Arts). The game was released for Microsoft Windows (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_Windows), PlayStation 3 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PlayStation_3) and Xbox 360 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox_360) in November 2009. Set in the mythical kingdom of Ferelden during a period of civil strife, the player assumes the role of a warrior, mage or rogue who must unite the kingdom to fight an impending invasion by demonic forces. BioWare describes Dragon Age: Origins as a "dark heroic fantasy set in a unique world", and a spiritual successor to their Baldur's Gate (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baldur%27s_Gate_%28series%29) series of games, which took place in the Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forgotten_Realms) of the Dungeons & Dragons (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dungeons_%26_Dragons) franchise."

I started to play it two (?) weeks ago (and it feels like ages.. i can only play it on weekends, arhhhhhh) - especially because I played other BioWare games before and kind of liked them a lot - especially Baldur's Gate. :D

Honestly, at the time, I found the game to be amazing. I spent basically my entire Christmas break last year (2009) playing the game, and eventually beating it. The story is actually really well made in my opinion, and the combat system is pretty easy to use. Now, it's just sitting on my shelf...

The main reason I bought this game was because it was a "spiritual successor" to Baldur's Gate...which was one of the sickest games I've played. Sad that they stopped production of #3...

I TOTALLY agree with you! That's why i bought dragon age too and i'm also very sad that they didnt realized a baldurs gate 3 - did you play neverwinter nights? :)
what i mostly miss in dragon age (which i am currently playing, i'm a bit behind whats up to date right now xD) is the complexity baldurs gate HAD and dragon age NOT. for instance the items! in bardurgs gate you could carve every person youve been killed and in dA its just like they fall down to the ground and then melt away :/ nothing to collect here.
what i love most in dragon age are the characters who follow you and with whom you can always talk.. its very narrative!

YEAH! You can interact in many different ways with your party hehe. From what I remember, on the 2nd guy I made, I had him fall in love with the witch girl?
But Baldurs Gate was soo awesome for me! I loved the co-op!!! I was so upset when 3 never came out...I was waiting a long time for it :(
And that's true. In Dragon Age, some people would just melt away and not drop anything....tsk tsk

exactly! and all the treasure chests and things they that sparkle - in my opinion that's far too demonstrative.
you mean morrigan? she's freaky and cool! since i created myself a woman i cannot fall in love with her but i quite like her! she always fights with everybody! I think that's the main point i love dragon age - the interactions with your characters are just too lovely to be forgotten. when i read critices about the game before nobody ever mentioned that! of course, the main world isnt really big and sometimes all those quests are a bit like "kill this/find this" etc - but you always have your friends around you, ne? (: i like alister very much, hihi. and shale (the golem, did you meet him?). and zevran! there are just so many individual characters!
by the way.. i was wondering.. what happens, if i betray a character i fell in love with? xD Did you try out that?

I have only played it a few times, when I was together with my ex who had it, but I thought the game was amazing. My dad is going to buy a new computer this year, so I can't wait to buy it and play it on the new computer. I can't wait for dragon age II to come out as well. :)

I've been playing it for the second time now. First time I was a warrior accompanied by Alistair, Morrigan and Wynne, but this time I'm a Mage (playing on Hard) accompanied by Allistair, Shale and Leliana, which forces a whole different playstyle. You have to play much more strategically and rely on positioning a lot more, but on the other hand, the fights are much more interesting. One small misstep can spell the difference between a fight that's over in 10 seconds with minor injuries, and barely surviving the fight with a single remaining character.

I've played Dragon Age: Origins a few times now but never get that far in the game tho i'm impressed by it. First time i played it i was a Dwarven noble and the introduction for the Dwarven noble, in my opinion, is epic. I'm kinda looking forward to Dragon Age 2 however i'm not too keen on the fact you can't make a character. At least i don't think you can make a character.

I loved the 1st one, finished it once and played half of the 2nd expansion.
Dragon Age in my opinion, it's one of the best game ever. The story, battle mode, even the side quests you've to make are amazing!
I'm really looking forward for the 2nd game, but dunno what to expect about it yet.

I loved Dragon Age Origins, it was soo detailed and planned out. Lol kinda gave me goosebumps, but sadly im not looking forward to the second one for one main reason. Its because i heard you wont be able to customize your character like you could in the first one. Its gonna be like how mass effect was. I dont know, i guess we will wait and see
