Gekitou Ninja Taisen Special is based on Japan's popular Anime series "Naruto Shippuuden". This game is the eight installment of series "Gekitou Ninja Taisen" developed by Eighting and published by D3 and Tomy since 2003.

As an Anime fighting game, it will always provide every kind of different modes such as GNT Road(Arcade Mode..kind of). In this mode you choose a character and what you're presented to do is that once you choose your character and you're placed on a map with paths and they unlock as your progress. also, within the battle or these modes there's certain objectives(they are scrolls) which you'll need to achieve in order to open secret battles, for example later on this paths of battles which will require certain amount of scrolls from you. This mode is pretty repeating and it will get pretty boring, even more of bad news...You'll need to play this mode to get more characters. There's the obvious VS Mode, Tutorials and the new to the GNT series....Wi-Fi Mode.

Moving on with the combat. To mention one of the semi-big places, there are two bars now, the regular chakra one and the new one called Kawarimi No Jutsu(KNJ) which is in English is Substitution, meaning when you substitute it won't deduct from your chakra and of course it's also used for "striker attacks". The same formula of the game is still kept and the commands from the same seven prequels. An interesting addition is that when performing secret techniques, all control users....meaning Classic Controller Pro and Gamecube could perform the special commands that enhances your attack and just not only Wiimote + Nunchuk like it has been with all the previous titles.

Wi-Fi Mode is new to the GNT series yet it was a very good attempt. Besides the obvious 1 vs. 1 matchmaking, this mode also provides a Tag Team mode which you and your buddy can party up or find someone randomly and fight another pair of players. It's a very interesting mode as it puts team work on the table. Even with the former, there's not complete 4 players Wi-Fi but we'll see in the next installment.

I been playing GNT since 2004 and have been playing nonstop since then. Since the Clash of Ninja stopped being par of GNT since Revolution, I won't compare it to Revolution 3(cause it's only out in US) rather with it's prequel EX 3. EX 3 felt crap, no online, story mode sucked and it felt like the nerfed the combat system. Online, something that we were told that we were gonna get but it was later removed(EX 3) and was finally added in SP. Besides the normal 1 vs. 1 I had fun playing tag Team mode with my friends and pwning some Japanese noobs, it felt good.
