For those MTG players, what decks/colors/themes do you use? For those players that make their own decks, how do you decide what goes into it?

I have a standing count of roughly 35 decks, about 10 of which are tried, tested, and true, and four are my best.

I have a token deck that has proven itself at a number of Color plays,( that is, each person present represents a color, and plays a single tone deck of the chosen color, and all players are against one another until the last one stands). I've as well juggled up to four people with it, and killed 3 people at most with it in a single turn.

Three cards that help form the backbone for it are:

Strength of Cedars: http://magiccards.info/query?q=Strength+of+Cedars&v=card&s=cname

Tribal Unity: http://magiccards.info/on/en/294.html

And Primal Rage: http://magiccards.info/query?q=Primal+Rage&v=card&s=cname

The most I've ever been able to make was 24 6/6 worms with trample in one turn, the mana for the deck is incredible, and tends to have a pooling effect. Which for the record, works wonderful with a single thrown fireball in there JUST for fun. ^_^

Just a taste of one of my decks, I was curious about how and what other people might utilize. I am one of those players that finds other people's decks to be curiously a peak of interest, I want to see the deck work as much as the other person.

I quit Magic for a while since I've found the current Standard environment to be absolutely dull and uninteresting. However, I've been brewing a B/W Stax build for Modern. I know it won't be completely competitive, mainly because I don't care about Tier 1 decks. Also, I'm not shelling out on Liliana of the Veils.

I call this deck Smallstax (http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/smallstax/)

Sorcery (9)
2x Death Cloud
4x Smallpox
3x Thoughtseize

Instant (8)
4x Batwing Brume
4x Go for the Throat

Enchantment (4)
4x Ghostly Prison

Creature (10)
4x Leonin Arbiter
3x Magus of the Tabernacle
3x World Queller

Planeswalker (2)
2x Gideon Jura

Land (24)
4x Flagstones of Trokair
4x Ghost Quarter
4x Godless Shrine
3x Isolated Chapel
2x Plains
5x Swamp
2x Tectonic Edge

Artifact (3)
3x Torpor Orb

Sideboard (10)
4x Hero's Downfall
3x Leyline of Sanctity
3x Rest in Peace

Maybeboard (3)
3x Blind Obedience

I also have a "fun" R/W stax build for Modern. I guess I just like Stax in Modern.

Furthermore, I am working on a Standard G/B Sanguine Bond/Crypt Incursion combo deck which looks like fun.

necro'd the hell out of this thread. o_____o

I used to collect them and play, not enough money to fuel that habit anymore. Maybe once I get more hours at work..

I tend to run red and white.

I used to play a lot, I quit mostly because while some people I played with were chill; too many other people got way to upset if a wrong moved was played

I ran a Black & Blue deck all about discarding and mulling

I don't p!ay MtG very often these days, and never played in a competitive environment. My most recent deck is a R/U that abuses Pyromancer Ascension and neat control/draw spells with support monsters like Goblin Electromancer and Guttersnipe.

I also have a vampire deck, G/W Knights and what remains of a G/U landfall deck.

I play Yugioh at least once a week though.

Sounds like you guys needed to have some fun with the "un" series that magic put out.

Cards like this:

I haven't really played in a while. When I did I won too much, against the casual players in the lounge, and so I started playing "peaseant decks" which are decks following the regular rules except you can't even have a single rare (or whatever the new extra rare bullcrap cards they have now are), and only five uncommons. It makes for a fun challenge. I remember a deck with white banding creatures, green provoke creatures, and mother of runes and rancor to back 'em up. I think I also had a deck with elves, counterspells, and isocron scepters.

Speaking of Un-Cards...

I want to play this card in a sanctioned event so, so badly. Hell, even in a round of EDH. It just screams to break the game.
