These are 3 Serial Experiments Lain wallpapers that I made.

No offense dude, but those are REALLY trendy. They're nothing that I haven't seen done before.

..trendy ? o.O I dunno, I just used my style , nothing more. I didn't use any tutorials so I don't it's trendy. And I haven't seen any wallpapers that look like those o.O

There's no such thing as a trendy wallpaper.

I told you what I thought of them all before, I still like the Asuka ones you made better <3

Trendy wallpapers do exist... except everything is considered trendwhorish nowadays; tech, grunge, sparkles, etc.
Most hardcore graphics artists will scorn upon these unless they're done exceptionally well.

That's exactly my point, nothing is trendy, because everyone claims EVERYTHING is trendy.

There's no such thing as originality in graphics, believe it or not, if you think you've thought of it first, it's been done before. The internet is just too vast to be so narrowminded and using terms such as "trendy" and "overused"

EVERYTHING is overused.

As long as you do something by yourself, without getting help, or ideas from anyone, it's not trendy. It's original. Even if someone else on the internet has done something like it.

I'll probably post the Asuka wallapers on another topic some other time.

Niiiiiice Job! Personally I am partial to purple, being it is my favorite color and all..

On the first: Hey some pictures I don't normally see on Lain wallpapers! Love all the blending effects.

Second: yay, purple! =^_^= It's got a slight Matrix tint to it with the binary numbers, but it totally goes along with the intent of mysterious Lain. :P

Third: This picture conveys alot of emotion, even without your words to help it along. You don't normally see a Lain wallpaper conveying these emotions.. its different, and I think I like it. Plus, blue is the next best thing to purple. ;)

First thing: Yes, there are trendy techniques... For example: grids (sorry Pooky ^^;

, boxes (sorry again Pooky ^^;

, lines and fill-ups in general, but if they are well-used, they look good, and it doesn't matter if they are trendy or not.

Second thing: Yes, there are original techniques. I've seen really original wallpapers before (for those who remember, Default's EVA wall, in black and blue with Rei's shadow as the main picture and the vast horizon with NEON GENESIS EVANGELION writen over it) that really looked good too... It's not because someone used the same technique before that it is automatically trendy... It's just that the common techniques are considered trendy.

Third thing: Now onto the wallpapers. They are trendy, yeah, they are, and it doesn't matter if you did use tutorials or not, but still, they are nice. The first one has the bottom picture too much placed at the bottom, it'd be better if placed a bit higher or getting a taller picture to fill more, and the olded monotone like thing looked nice on it. The second one has some "dark highlights" (like on Lain's clothes) that should be lightened up and made with more contrast against the background or just blacked out, and the binary code doesn't look nice. The overall dark feel to it looks good, and purple looks nice with Lain, but that picture I've seen lots of times on wallpapers already. The third one looks nice, and i like how it fades to black in the middle of it. Very nice. But the pic could be more worked on don't you think?
