Goku's memory

What if Goku's memory returned to him, what would become of the universe then. Would he destroy the universe, continue to support the universe, or something else.

that would be something, maybe if he didn't lose his memory when he was a child, maybe he would do what he is told to and that's to destroy the earth and maybe like vegeta he would just stop when meets the "one" who will stop him from doing so...

and when i say the "one" it means a girl...

Yea I agree. I think he would be like Vegeta and slowly smooth over and have a liking to planet Earth.

Goku was sent to Earth to destroy it, and from what I understand, that konk on the head changed him completely. I think if he didn't get hit on the head, then yeah, maybe he would destroy Earth, and Vegeta only smoothed over, thx to Goku. Maybe another hit on the head would make him bad?? Who knows >.>

i think if goku had kept his memory things would be different but the story line could have elements of the original. he starts off by trying to destroy earth but has to face piccolo, during this fight he finds out about the dragonballs. so he gets rid of piccolo then destroys the earth (because the d.balls dissapeared with piccolo and kami).
he then gets picked up by vegeta (who knows about the d.balls because of a scouter or something) and they go to namek to find the dragonballs, then freiza comes and they have to fight him, but vegeta gets all jealous 'cause goku is mega strong.
but! because krillin was killed by goku years ago he can't go all super saiyen so freiza kills them all and continues looking for the dragonballs, gets them, becomes immortal and rules over the entire universe...
UNTIL! back on earth cell emerges from the future time capsule (because of the alternate time line thing) and finds the sleeping androids (who coincidently werent destroyed because... yeah) sucks them up and goes all "perfect cell"
then when freiza discovers there is still life on earth he goes there with King Cold and a big battle between Cell and Freiza ensues...

Cell wins because he traps Freiza in rice cooker like Roshi did to Piccolo in dragonball. :] the end

Well i think (maybe i would like him to do that >_>) that he would destroy Earth later on.If not alone Raditz would have come and together whooosh.Since he wouldn't be able to do it alone.In that time there were Picolo,Krilin,Tien and so on who could stop him together yes.

Well. What I meant was what if Goku regained his memory afterwords. Then he looks around and notices he has a family, such as chichi, goten. and gohan. What would happen o.O

Eh not really sure but i think that his saiyan instincts would pretty much tell him to destroy.Since they are humans.Well maybe he would spare the kids since they are half saiyans.You know what they did to the rest of their planets inhabitants.The other small race.They just smashed and bashed them like nothing.I don't think Goku would act much better since it is in his blood.He would probably be consumed by rage.

I thought it was programming, not memories that were knocked around in his head. That would imply he would have no choice but to execute his orders.
Everybody dies! Yaaaay! Then Frieza takes the planet Earth and might even sell it at auction! Woohoo! 'Course, if it happened later, Frieza wouldn't benefit financially, but...Goku'd still depopulate the planet.
I'm not sure if he'd be able to reason, but if so he'd probably spare only those that allied themselves to his cause.

The other possibility is that the programming only works on small children, what with their undeveloped minds. It might have no effect at all if it returns after he's matured.

i honestly think Goku would continue supporting the
universe, Goku isn't the type to have a change of heart.
Grandpa Gohan had the doing of goku becoming good.
so Goku would continue the legacy his Grandpa would want
him to do.

i like to think goku did regain his memory but chose not to destoy earth because he came to love his family and friends too much

I think, to answer raikens question, goku would end up overiting his programming and be the same goku but with barock thrown in

I wonder how exactly a baby can lose its memory. More like the hit on the head scrambled his brain including his Saiyan disposition towards violence and cruelty.

And the hell is this crap about thinking Goku regained his memory but didn't destroy earth cause he loved his family too much? That's just completely ignoring the series and substituting for your own inane wishes. For that matter, I choose to believe Vegeta is such a tough guy because deep down he's an emotional, sensitive soul with a penchant for candle lit dinners under the moonlight. He only killed millions of people because he wanted personal contact to sooth his tormented soul. Wow! Why even bother to watch the show when I can just make up my own storyline?!

Programming a machine is precise. Every action is detailed. Programming a person is more loose, and could be mere suggestion, giving Goku the urge to kill everything that moves. He might be able to defy the programming, but given Raditz's certainty that Earth would have been deppopulated by his arrival makes me think it was very forceful programming. Think of it as similar to brainwashing.

Saiyans like fighting. The only person to claim that Saiyans are cruel, dishonorable killers of their own accord is Vegeta. A couple of Saiyans (canon and otherwise), including Vegeta himself, contradicting other statements he made, claimed the Frieza had turned them into savages for his purposes.
Vegeta has been raised by his nanny Nappa and brainwashed by Frieza since a very early age. Considering, on top of this, that Friezas men can hear anything and everything they say while wearing scouters, I find it unlikely that Vegeta has ever learned about Saiyan culture or behavior prior to Saiyans becoming Friezas underlings. He is not some authority on Saiyans, contrary to widespread and inane popular belief.

...but his programming?

I never said I could explain the programming, but that is how it was decribed in both the manga and the dub I watch. Just try to think of it as brainwashing at a ridiculously early age. Besides, it would be impossible for an infant to have any memories since their brains aren't properly formed yet. Thus, it is impossible that there were memories. I have cast doubt onto the idea that Saiyans are naturally savages (they have to be raised to be barbarous). It has been described as programming within the series. Like I said, I don't know how that is, but it is.

Oh now I get what you are saying, yea I agree, the saiyans are all pretty much brainwashed to destroy and rob planets. It is also sad that we never got to discover what would of happened if Bardock and Goku met each other, when Goku was older.

What ever happens to the people who get amnesia in the real world? The one's who gain thier memories back? Don't they keep the experiences that they went through prior to re-installation of their memories?

If this is the case then I doubt he'd change much. Toddler time in angry world could barely shift the foundation of what he came to realize in the many years of his life exponentially (This would also be a variable distinction, considering the time in the canon when he would 'gain said memories'). After Freiza I'd think it would have been long enough and Goku would have had enough experiences to shape who he really is, regardless of who he was 'meant' to be by his nature.

This becomes another branch of the old argument of whether people are solely built mentally by nature, or nurture. Seeing as I find both sides equally truthful (as in, we are made not only by our nature, but also our experiences) I doubt that he'd try to destroy everything he came to love, or throw away any of the beliefs which he came to embrace. Now if it was maybe a year after he hit his head, that's questionable.

I don't think it would matter if he got his memory later in life. It'll be more like amnesia. After all, who remembers anything when the were a baby?

Even if Goku had never lost his memory, Master Rochi would've totally destroyed him.
