looking for a good adventure story
Could anyone recommend me a good adventure-type anime (that isn't InuYasha)? Preferabely something with really well developed characters.

Hmm. I have a few for you, although I'm not sure if you are into sic-fi and supernatural...=3
Black Cat Shaman King Tsubasa: RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE Utawarerumono Chrono Crusade Darker than BLACK Rozen Maiden Zombie-Loan Elemental Gelade Claymore And there are always the well-known Bleach, Naruto, FullMetal Alchemist(Masterpiece in my opinion, I totally suggest you watch you haven't already).etc I don't wanna overwhelm you with it(that's what usually happens to me.><), so that's all I'll recommend for now.

(if you've not yet seen it) one piece is a pirate, adventure. It has really well developed characters, is often very funny but has it's emotional times as well.

You can try...MAR(Marchen Awakens Romance, .Hack Sign, Disgaea, Gurren Lagaan, Sword X, Rave Master, One Piece, Baki the Grappler, Youko the Demon Slayer, and Desert Punk I guess thats about it for now.

Well, since it wasn't recommended yet, if you're looking for character development, Twelve Kingdom is the anime you're looking for.
Scrapped Princess is also a good choice, the plot is fairly common, but is so well done that is hard not to like if you're fan of the genre. |

I guess if you want an "adventure-type"...
There are plenty of super long (shonen-ish) series out there (as posted by the people before me). I wouldn't call Death Note adventure-ish (more like boy gets godlike death powers and subjugates world in name of justice...) nor Rozen Maiden (Saw like 4 eps? Very girly, goth lolita weird stuff). My personal favorite is Samurai Champloo- it's not super long (26 eps), is both humorous and moving at the same time, and the characterization is great. Also, the very good artwork/animation is a plus. |

set in 1880 the old west Viu baines goes around the usa trying to find gun blaze west(much like one piece's grand line) its a short manga just 3 vols but I loved it
