Goku's Transformation

Am I the only one who thought that Goku's first transformation to SSJ1(Super Saiyan) was just purely awesome?? I mean, I wish I could do that!!
What other Super Saiyan transformations did you like?? But what I really wanna know is, what you thought about Goku's. Frieza looked curious and a little bit afraid when Goku started his angry transformation. And when he finally did go Super Saiyan, it seemed like the most dramatic SSJ1 transformation ever(I guess, considering it's the first one to be seen in DBZ). Frieza had the same look in his eyes when Trunks transformed. Too bad Vegeta didn't transform until the beginning of the Androids saga, it would've been cool to see him and Goku turn SSJ1 and defeat Frieza together, or to see what it's like to see Vegeta fight Frieza in SSJ1 form.

I always thought his transformation looked better than that of others. Yes he did it first, but he also did it the best.

Yup. No one I've seen has beaten his awesomeness and dramaticness(ooo, big words 0.0)when he transformed.

I like when Vegeta first turns ssj...life or death situation...but i guess that was goku's too...idk I liked Vegeta's better :P maybe because i like him more than goku o.o

I don't find goku's ssj1 transformation to be the most of anything especially if the criteria are these except as mentioned above the badass stare .His ssj3 trans. was a lot more "shaking" and maybe the stare rivals the one in his first one .Vegeta's ssj1 was even better as far as the light effects go

Goku's transformation took ages, up till the point where it just got annoying. Then, after his tranformation (took the whole episode!!!), with that scary look in his eyes, I thought... Woah, Freeza's up for some butt woopin'!

Okay, this is what I don't get. I read that it takes like intense anger and the feeling of loss to go SSJ1, along with having enough strength and when you've used up all of your power. You also have to have Saiyan blood. So what I don't get is, why did certain people in DBZ end up transforming in different ways?? Goku was probably the most perfect example of the requirements for a transformation to SSJ1, but other Saiyans like Vegeta trained madly, to do the "impossible." And yet, it was the fact that he didn't care anymore to be better than Goku that finally drove him over the edge, becoming a Super Saiyan then?? And Trunks, in his movie, Gohan was killed, and he got angry and finally transformed, but he wasn't at his limit of power. So that's what I don't get...I guess the notion of Super Saiyans being "Legendary," is now tarnished, since there are more and more future characters becoming SSJ1 fairly easily.

Didn't the author originally only plan to write it until the Freiza saga was over, but since it was so popular he kept going? Super Saiyan was supposed to be the ultimate power, but because he had to keep going he just handed out SSJ gift baskets to everyone and their mothers. I heard that somewhere...

Goku's first transformation to SS was awsome and the difference it made in that particular saga made it awsome....i also thouroghly enjoyed the transformation into SS3 by goku...just the amount of power he was diving out and like all the others were so far away and could still sense how awsome it was...

Yeah, Akira originally intended for Gokuu to defeat Freeza as as Super Saiya-jin and then perish when Namek exploded. Of course once he realized the massive fan base he had established and their demand for more, he did the smart thing and continue on with Dragonball Z - which I am happy he did.

And yes, I loved his transformation. I was so pumped when his eyes turned all white and he let out that scream which sounded nothing like Gokuu (side note - it was the voice actor for Ginyu that did the SSJ scream) but it still totally owned.

Yeah, it was cool, but all of the other transformations couldn't compete with that, it took like 5 minutes, lol, and Freiza was just standing there. But too bad he doesn't do it like that anymore, now all he has to do is blink once, and he's ssj. But it was indeed "cool".

Goku's first transformation will remain to be the best forever :] funnily enough that was the first ever episode of dbz i ever watched... and that was 8 years ago ><.

for the likes of goten and trunks, they could transform no problem because goku and vegeta had already turned ssj1 when they were born. so somehow genteically its easier for them.

but for gohan it took something mega for him to turn ssj2 when fighting cell, and i think when that happens it makes a way better episode than just flicking it on like a switch.

Well to become a super saiyan you need to be pure, like Goku. I think Vegeta was pure rage like they said once in Boudaki 3. So that's how vegeta attained his ssj1. Also Goku's transformation was the best and most memorable of any transformation.

You know, I wouldn't have minded the series ending there. What really annoyed me was how Goku and Vegeta were the main stars in the Buu saga though.

No, you're definitely not the only one who thought that was cool. It may just be a tv show but they made Goku's first transformation truly special. After two tragic blows, Goku's calm, kind heart takes a dive and plunges into a state of rage. I loved it when lightning pierced the sky and the ground began to rise up with Goku hair as he struggled with his anger. Then in one final scream, the hero is engulfed in a brilliant aura of gold and power. I know it's not healthy to get too attached to things like television, but I think the animators did an excellent job at depicting the surge of a legendary miracle. It was amazing!

What's almost just as entertaining is the place that Frieza stands at when this all happens. Afterall, it is kind of his fault that Goku transforms. When Goku first begins his fight with Frieza, he's the only full-blooded saiyan left (I'm not counting the movies). Frieza went to all that trouble to kill off every saiyan so that a SSJ wouldn't overthrow him and right when he gets down to the very last one, he makes his worst nightmare come true. I just think it's funny.

I thought it was so freakin awesome!!!! I was so happy when he got that power cuz Frieza was gettin on my last nerve. That was rude what he did to Crillin!! *screams*

But, my favorite SS transformation was Goku and Vegeta on DBZ when the fought Majin Bu and fuzed into Vegeto! That was awesome.

On a side note not related,did anyone notice that 3x year old Krillin hung out alot with 8-10 year old Gohan.Did Krillin not have friends?
