Final Fantasy 7: The Return of the Crisis

Chapter 1: The End of the World

As Cloud dealt the final blow of Omni Slash, Sephiroth fell back and
released streams of unholy energy. Cloud watched as the unholy energy
mixed with holy ones which came out of the ground. Both energies
gathered around Cloud and exploded into millions of small particles.
"Lifestream?" Cloud thought as the small particles of energies
drifted past him.
Then, part of the small particles of energy formed a bright light
above Cloud. He reached his hand out towards the bright light,
attempting to touch it. A hand reached out from the light, and moved
slowly towards Cloud's hand.
A sudden tremble of the ground brought Cloud back to the reality.
Cloud then realized that the hand trying to reach him is only Tifa's.
But now he's got no time to figure out whose hand it was, as the rock
platform of Tifa's was cracking. The rock that Cloud was standing on
began to sink, and Tifa was falling off from hers. So Cloud jumped
across and grabbed the edge of the cliff with Tifa safely in his arms.
"...I think I am beginning to understand." Cloud said with a
thoughtful voice.
"What?" asked Tifa, completely puzzled.
"An answer from the Planet...the Promised Land...I think I can meet
her...there" said Cloud sadly.
"Yeah, let's go meet her" agreed Tifa.
Cloud gathered his strength and pushed Tifa over the edge. When Tifa
got on, she helped Cloud up, and the trembling in the Crater seemed
weaker.
"Hey, where is everyone?" wondered Cloud.
"Heeeey!" Barret's voice cuts across the air and overran all the
other sounds in the Crater. He and the others were sitting on a higher
rock platform.
"I'm glad you're all safe!" cried Tifa joyfully.
Barret turned to Cid and said, "They all seem to be safe, too. But...
what're we going to do?"
"Holy should be moving soon, and that means this place will..." said
Red XIII, warning everybody that they should move on.
Cid stood up and lightened a cigarette, then said worriedly, " Oh,
Lady Luck don't fail me now..." But all of a sudden the whole place
started to shake, with alot of crashing and beating on the top of the
Crater. Boulders fell like rain and the rock platforms were cracking
up. Cloud and Tifa hide under the edge of their rock platforms while
the others do the same on the other side.
After all the boulder rain and dust stopped, the group then find out
that it was actually Highwind. The pilot thought it was the time to
pick the group up so he drove Highwind down the Crater.
"We better move quick, this place will get explode very soon." warned
Cloud as he pushed everyone into the Highwind.
As soon as Cloud finished talking, the whole place start shaking
badly. The Pilot immediately closed the entrance door and started the
engine. But the engine didn't move fast enough so the Crater exploded,
sending Highwind in the air. Energies blasted off from the base of the
Crater, creating a energy pole from the base of the Crater into the
sky. Even though Highwind's engine has started, but the magnectic force
from the energy blast gradually pulled Highwind back. Bits and pieces
of Highwind disintegrated as it came closer to the energy pole. The
whole Highwind rumbled violently, and everyone in Highwind fell over.
"****!" Cid sweared as he knocked his head onto the monitor.
"If we don't do anything, we all get fried!!" Barret shouted.
Cid suddenly remembered that there was a Emergency Escape Pulley
beside the control monitor, so he grabbed the handle and pulled it.
The controller cabin was released and the steering wings shifted out.
Cloud and the others escaped the burying Highwind just before it
completely fades away in the energy blast. After a few twists and
turns, the Escape Plane finally calmed down. Cid grabbed the controls
and steered the Escape Plane towards Midgar. Just as they left the
border of the Northern Continent, Meteor moved just above Midgar.
Meteor gets closer to Midgar by the second. The earth began to shake,
gusts of winds start to circulate Midgar. As the Meteor came even
closer, gusts of winds eventually evolve into several small tornadoes
and started to crush through the Sectors. A number of lightning strikes
went off from the Meteor and struck the residential on the higher
sectors, causing explosions.
"Disastrous, lucky I moved all of the citizens of Midgar into Kalm.
Otherwise, there won't be a single person left that is a citizen of
Midgar." claimed Cait Sith, watching Midgar from a long distant via the
Escape Plane's window.
"Where the @#^% is Holy!! If it still don't come, Midgar will be torn
apart, and the whole planet will explode!" cried Barret with anger.
But as soon as Barret finish, Holy appeared right behind the Escape
Plane and traveled across the sea. Holy moved in high speed and soon
passed Cloud and others. It intercepted between Midgar and the Meteor,
cutting off the tornadoes from the Meteor. Cloud cheered in his heart,
knowing that Holy should be able to block off Meteor, but he gasped as
they flew closer. Holy didn't block off Meteor, instead, it was used by
the Meteor to create even more powerful tornadoes to ravage throughout
Midgar. As the Escape Plane flew passed Midgar, Cloud saw the Sectors
was mostly destroyed and Shinra HQ, the building that represents total
power and authority of the Shinra Company, still stood there but half
wrecked. Every single living creature in the world, watched this
destruction in silence.
"What's going to become of Midgar!?" questioned Barret as the plane
flew further away from Midgar.
"There's nothing we could do...Even Holy can't stop it...Forget
Midgar, lets worry about the planet." said Red XIII, hopeless.
Just as everyone was feeling that the world is about to end, Tifa
suddenly noticed a green light moving in a distance.
"What's that?"
A stream of green light uncovers itself from earth in the far
distance and start moving towards Midgar. While it moves, more and more
streams of green light uncover from the ground. All of them flow
towards Midgar and attracts more as they go.
"Lifestream?"Cloud thought.
Gradually, the streams of green light mixed with Holy and exploded. A
bright flash occurred, blinding everyone temporarily.
For a moment, Cloud thought he had seen Aeris's face in the light....

Chapter 2: In the Wrecked Grounds

Cloud watched Midgar as Cid is about to land the Escape Plane.
Midgar, once the largest and most advance city in the world, now
collapsed in ruin. This city brought back too much memories to Cloud.
The struggle of him to go into SOLDIER, how he was used as a specimen
in Shinra Company, the death of Zack outside Midgar, and the first
meeting of that beautiful flower girl which he will never forget in his
life. Cloud sighed and head towards the exit when Cid landed the Plane.
When all the people board off the Plane, all they saw was wrecked
buildings, bits of fire everywhere, and some people walking in the
wreckage looking at their once proud home city. Suddenly Cloud got this
strange feeling. He cannot describe it, but he know he had this kind of
feeling when he saw Aeris for the first time. He looked around and
caught his eye on a blue caped man, armed with a sword, jumped across a
pile of dump and disappeared. Cloud thought it might be one of SOLDIER
returning to see Midgar, so he forgot about it and went on observing
the wreckage.
The Sector walls were totally crushed, the Sector pillars were
charged down, everywhere they looked, there's damaged buildings and
people crying. By a uncontrolled force, Cloud left the group and
started to walk towards to the place which was once Sector 5 Slums. He
stood there, looking at the half corrupted church. It is still the same
old look, except that the walls cracked and the roof collapsed. He
pushed the door, and it fell down, giving a lound thud. He walked in,
and saw someone with their back towards Cloud. Just as Cloud was
wondering who can she be, she turned around and looked at Cloud. Cloud
was shocked, that smile....that beautiful face....that dress....can it
be? Cloud rubbed his eyes and took a closer look....she's not there?
"Of course she's not here, she was killed by Sephiroth....it is just
an illusion." thought Cloud sadly.
He bent down, looking at the flowers that Aeris once took care of.
These flowers was protected by a few fallen wooden plank in the tornado
rampage. Cloud looked at the flowers closely, they were just like
Aeris's face smiling at him. A fall of a piece of wood in the back room
of the church distracted his concentration. He stood up and ran to the
back room. Just as he kicked open the door, he caught a glimpse of a
blue cape through a crack in the wall. He ran towards it, but the
person wearing blue cape seems to sense his approach so the person ran
away. Once again, Cloud has this strange feeling just like he had when
he first meet Aeris. He felt weird about this, but he think that this
is not necessary anymore. He left the back room and went back to the
flower pile at the main hall of the church.
Barret sat on top of all the junk infront of Sector 7 wall with
Marlene in his hand. He looked into the fallen Sector 7 as if he could
see Biggs, Wedge and Jessie.
"Daddy? Can we go see the flower girl's church now?" asked Marlene.
"Sure, let's go." answered Barret.
Barret picked up Marlene and headed back towards Sector 5. As they
entered the church, they saw Cloud still observing the flower on the
ground. Barret started to walk towards Cloud, but Cloud was too
concentrated so he didn't notice.
"Cloud, still thinking of Aeris?" asked Barret as he patted Cloud on
the shoulder from behind.
"Oh, its you Barret. Er...yes I am, I was thinking of Aeris just
then." answered Cloud, giving a sad look as he turned around.
"Oh look at all those pretty flowers!!" cried Marlene joyfully.
Marlene jumped down from Barret's shoulder and went forward to look
at the flowers. Cloud and Barret walked aside to talk, leaving Marlene
to play with the flowers. They sat on the front stairs of the church.
"So, how severely was Midgar damaged?" asked Cloud.
"Well, most of the Sectors walls and pillars were destroyed. 4/5 of the
Shinra HQ were annihilated and mostly it is the top part and the exterior
bit. And, all 5 Mako Reactors were destroyed so all the Mako energy
inside, leaked out. Even though some of the Midgar grounds will have Mako
poisoning, but on the positive side, what was once drained from Earth now
gets to be restored." said Barret.
"What about the citizens of Midgar? Does Shinra Company have any plans
about where to settle all of them?" asked Cloud
"Since Rufus, Scarlet and Heidegger, those highly ranked people died,
Shinra Company shattered. Luckily, Reeve survived and took control of
Midgar Shinra Company. Now he is leading the remaining Shinra workcrew and
SOLDIER to set up tents and rebuild parts of the city. But strangely, a
Shinra General who's in Junon, took over it straight after the disaster
ended. But he did send some men here to help with the rebuilding." answered
Barret.
"What was his name?" asked Cloud again.
"I think it was Barl, never heard of him in the Shinra Company. Anyway,
you want to meet the group he sent here? They are currently in Sector 4,
observing the Mako Energy leakage there." asked Barret.
"Alright, I need to know more about this General Barl too" said Cloud, as
he went into the church and took Marlene out.
They climbed over the junk in Sector 5 and head for Sector 4. When they
got there, some of the fallen buildings were removed off the ground by the
Junon Shinra Company and some tents and caravans were set up. They glanced
around and saw several groups SOLDIER removing waste materials, accompanied
by a few scientists observing the poisoned ground.
"Hey, is Welson here?" Barret asked, towards a group of scientists.
"I'm here." A sound appeared from behind. Cloud and barret turned around
and saw a tall and mascular man smiling at them.
"Greetings, I am Welson. I am the leader of the Rescue Team from Junon
Shinra Company. Nice to meet you." he reached his hand torwards Cloud for a
hand shake as soon as he finished speaking.
"Nice to meet you too. I am Cloud, an ex-SOLDIER." greeted Cloud as he
shook his hand with Welson's. Strangely, that feeling came across him for
the third time as soon as he touched his hand.
"So you are Cloud, eh?", Welson continued "I heard alot of things about
you. You are very courageous to challenge Midgar Shinra, Jenova and
Sephiroth."
"How do you know all these?" asked Cloud.
"For a long time, Junon Shinra does not like the doings of Midgar Shinra.
General Barl at that time, sent spies to infiltrate Midgar Shinra's plans
and experiment. But they find out that General Barl is against them, so they
hunted him down and retake Junon Shinra. Luckily, General Barl escaped by
hiding in the Underwater Mako Reactor. After the world disaster is over,
General Barl re-led the army and took over the control of Junon Shinra. I
was one of the spies at that time so I know all these." explained Welson.
"So this is how he rose to power..." said Cloud, finally understood.
"Well, would you please excuse me now, as I have some more observation
to do." said Welson.
"Okay, bye for now." said Cloud and Barret.
Cloud watched him walked towards a poisoned ground. He thought: Why do I
have the same strange feeling to him like I have with Aeris and when I come
close the blue caped man? These questions have been bothering him, but he
thought there's no need to find out. He looked at the sky, it is getting
dark so he called Barret along with Marlene to go back to the outside of
Sector 1, where they parke the Escape Plane.
When the three of them got there, they saw the others were there already
setting up fire and food. When they eat the food, none of them talked. Each
of them is thinking their own stuff, their memories of this city. When they
finished, they went to sleep in the tent that Junon Shinra Rescue Team had
set up for them.

Chapter 3: Hojo's Secret Experiment

".....Cloud......Cloud Stife.......you may have destroyed me.......but you
will never.....ever.....destroy the true me......I'm Sephiroth!!!"
"Urgh!!" Cloud shouted as he was awakened by this continuos speaking in his
head. This voice sound so familiar to him...
"It can't be...He should be dead already. I finished him with Omni Slash in
Lifestream...The presence of him should be gone...Am I thinking too much?"
Cloud thought. Sweat dripped from his chin onto the blanket, he can't believe
that he is hearing from him again.
"Whats wrong Cloud?" Tifa went in the tent and asked as she heard Cloud
shout.
"Nothing Tifa, nothing is wrong." said Cloud coldly.
Again Tifa saw this cold, sad, lonely look on Cloud. She have never seen it
ever since after he had killed Sephiroth. Tifa gave a questioned look on her
face, hoping Cloud could answer her why is he behavin in such a way. But
Cloud stood up and went out of the tent, leaving Tifa in the behind. Tifa
sighed and followed him.
In the morning mist, Cloud walked towards the wrecked Shinra HQ. There's
something he have to find there, Hojo's report on Jenova and Sephiroth.
Only this way, he can find out the true powers that Jenova and Sephiroth
have. He turned around the corner and head for the centre of Midgar. He saw
Junon Shinra work crew were already there, removing the corrupted building
materials. Cloud walked to Welson, who is conducting all this.
"What are you doing now?" Cloud asked curiously.
"We are removing the waste materials to go in and search for documents we
need." answered Welson.
"Documents? What type?" Cloud asked again.
"I'm afraid that I cannot tell you. Those documents are Midgar Shinra and
Junon Shinra's most top secret informations and projects." replied Welson.
"I don't need to know that. All I wanted to know is that, are you able to
find any of Hojo's project information?" asked Coud.
"Well, we will try to find it, if it got nothing to do with what we are
looking for." just as Welson finished speaking, a Third Class SOLDIER came
infront of them.
"Sir, we found a trap door leading to a underground office. We belive that
is Hojo's secret office as the entrance have Hojo's personal symbol. Shall
we enter it?" reported the Third Class SOLDIER.
"Of course, Cloud, you come too." Welson said as he followed the Third
Class SOLDIER to where the trap door is. Cloud followed, with Tifa quietly
sneaking up from behind.
Soon they arrived infront of the trap door. The trap door is right under
the stairs beside the Shinra HQ. The Third Class SOLDIER pulled opened the
trap door and they went in. The atmosphere in there smelt more and more like
chemicals as they went further downwards. Finally, they reached the very
bottom, the Third Class SOLDIER reached left of the room and switched on the
light. The light was dim, they looked around and found out it is running on
its own electricity. From the dim light, they saw a large working desk with
books, documents and papers scattered on top. Behind the table was a big
bookself filled with books about how Shinra Company rose, projects they've
done and other stuff concerning the company. Cloud walked up to the table and
took a look on the documents while he others wander around, looking for the
things they need. While Cloud was looking through, he saw this folder, on top
it wrote: 'Jenova Project'. Cloud opened it and took a look inside.

'Jenova
We belive that Jenova got some sort of special power that will increase its
own strength everytime it escaped death. For example, when Jevona was still
a specimen, Cloud, the failure clone attacked it and nearly killed it. It
somehow escaped onto the cargo ship at Junon, and when Cloud met it again, it
became Jenova-Birth. So this means that it will evolve evertime it nearly get
killed and therefore it will be easy for it to cheat death. From the previous
encounter of Jenova, we can tell that it is almost imposible to kill it. But
there might be a way. Even though Jenova infected the Cetras and made them
extinct, but from some sources it showed that Jenova was also afraid of the
Cetras. We know this as Jenova so insist on getting Aeris killed, thats why
was killed by the shadow Sephiroth in the Ancient City. This might be the key
to totally destroy Jenova. But since the last Cetra was gone, this was is
useless. Maybe we can try........'

Cloud tried to read that sentence, but the letter is too faint so he
skipped that sentence and jumpped to the next paragraph.

' However, even if we vanish Jenova comepletly, if there's a single object
which was injected with Jenova cells, there will be a big possibility that
Jenova will revive. And, if the injected object is a living creature and
died, the living creature could be revived also. So if we want to totally
destroy that thing, we will have to destroy every single thing I inject
Jenova cells into. I have injected Jenova cells into........'

Again, the letter is too faint and it is also the end so Cloud put this
aside and opened another folder which the header is 'Sephiroth'.

'Sephiroth
We seem to have Sephiroth under control since when he is 17. He went beserk
at that time, and went on attacking every single person or thing. We had seen
most of the attacks and magic he can use at that time, but there's one
strange thing. He evolved into a beast with one wing and four tentacles
acting as his legs. His top part body remains the same when he was in
human(?) form. Even he turned into this kind of form, we can still know, that
is not his full power. He seem to be calmed down after that incident, but he
exploded again in Nebleheim a few years later. Afterwards, he disappeared. I
wonder where he could be? He could become a real threat if we don't do
anything......'

Cloud now have a rough idea of what powers that Jenova and Sephiroth have.
He fold the two documents up and ready to leave. But one thing caught his
attention. He found two more folders with the heading 'Zack' and 'Aeris'.

'Zack
The coming First Class SOLDIER after Sephiroth. Even though he is the Elite
force of SOLDIER, but he knows too much stuff about our company. We have to
get rid of him somehow. We decided to kill him after he returned from the
Mt. Nibel Reactor inspection mission. But it went wrong. Sephiroth somehows
that Jenova was kepted inside the reactor and actually broke in to take her
out. Zack tried to stop him, but was severely injured. All we know later on is
that, Sephiroth had taken Jenova out, and burnt the town. When we received the
news that the inspection mission went wrong, we rushed there o see what
happened. When we got there, we saw Zack, an unknown Low Class SOLIER and a
local girl, all injured there. We sent the local girl back to here house to
recieve medical treatment, and took Zack and the unknown Low Class SOLDIER back
to the secret undergound room in Shinra Mansion. We might be able to put them
into good use.....'

Thats the end of the report. Cloud laid down the folder and opened Aeris's
folder.

'Aeris
Last surviving(?) Cetra. Since the death of Eflana, our concentration for
Cetras was on her. From the studies of the cells of her's from last time's
capture, we believed that Cetras have a very strong life force. But why did
they die when Jenova infected them? Probably it was because the invasion of
Jenova cells lead to the corruption of inner organs. There might be a possibility
that some of the ancients escaped the Jenova infection, but most likely they
were already hunted down by Jenova. I remember in the report that Prof. Gast did
with Eflana, she mentioned that there was a Promised Land, where they said
that the surviving Cetras escaped to. But the report say that Eflana don't know
about this place too, so I doubt that there's such a place.'

Cloud folded up all the 4 folders he had seen and put it under his arm. As he
was about to walk out, he noticed a folder with the heading 'Top Secret! Jenova
Cells Bio Experiment'. Cloud sat down again and opened that folder.

'Jenova Cells Bio Experiment
We have tried injecting Jenova cells into alot of living things. But this time,
I am going to try something different. Try to inject Jenova Cells into plants. We
started this about 2 years ago. We gathered some plants and went to my secret lab
at 2 o'cl 300m r200m ungr. There, we injected Jenova Cells into the plants and
left it there for a few days. We went back to observe it, and nothing happened to
them. Weeks, months went past, and still nothing happened to them. We tried every
single chemical on it and still no reaction. It wasn't until one of my work crew
accidentally spilt some Mako Energy on it, then we saw the reaction. The plant
mutated a little and grew a bit larger. Then we dropped a few more drops of Mako
Energy on it. It mutated more, and grew more. We finally came to the conclusion
that injected plants will mutate once exposed to Mako Energy. Even though this is
dangerous, we still kept this experiment going as we were doing further inspections.
But beware, do not expose the plants to an over amount of Mako Energy, as it may
cause some effects to Jenova and to the plants!!!'

Cloud gasped. This was the thing he was worried about, the possibility of Jenova
reviving. He found Welson in the corner taking neccessary books.
"Welson! Where's Reeve and the Midgar Shinra SOLDIER group?" Cloud asked, loudly.
"They are in.....Sector 3. Why you need to know that for?" asked Welson back.
"Don't ask! Get your SOLDIER group ready, the world might be threatened again!!"
Cloud replied as he ran out of the underground office. He bumped into Tifa just
around the corner.
"Tifa! Get the others to Sector 3. Just say it's emergency!" demanded Cloud.
"Oh..okay Cloud." said Tifa as she ran off.
Cloud then ran towards Sector 3, along with the top secret folder.

Chapter 4: The Seek for the Secret Laboratory

Cloud sprinted towards Sector 3. He though if all that was written on the report was
true, then Cloud worst fear will come true, the revive of Jenova and Sephiroth. Cloud
knew he have to stop this no matter what. He can't risk the world to be in danger
again. But to stop it, he will need the help from Reeve to read the co-ordinates that
Hojo wrote down in the report. He dashed around Sector 2 wall and saw Reeve ordered
some Fourth Class SOLDIER to remove some trash.
"Reeve! Do you know how to read Hojo's co-ordinates?"
"Oh, its Cloud. Why do you need to know that?" asked Reeve back.
"I need it for this," Cloud laid the report infront of him, "here, read this and you
will understand why I need to know them badly."
Reeve quickly scanned through the report and then knew how serious the situation was.
He quickly thought about did he ever hear Hojo mentioned that there was a such a lab.
He shook his head as he can't remember anything, but then an idea came flashing through
his head.
"Sorry, I don't understand his co-ordinates and know where the lab is. But I do know
a way to find out. Building a secret lab is a big job, and therefore Hojo needs Midgar
Shinra's Building Group to help. Every building built by Midgar Shinra needs to
registered and its location will be recorded on the Midgar Shinra Building Central
Control System. If we gained the access to that system, we might be able to find the
secret lab. But I just don't know did that system escaped the disaster..."
"Where's this Midgar Shinra Building Central Control System you are talking about?"
Cloud asked.
"Its in the lower part of the Shinra HQ, the round building in the Lower Sectors. But
since every Sector Pillars collapsed, the only way to get to the system is by going
from the top, via the Shinra HQ. The internal part of the Shinra HQ is kind of
corrupted, but still accessable, only the exterior part was destroyed. We already
removed some of the junk blocking the entrance to the building to retrieve some of the
information of Midgar Shinra. But I don't know if we can get to the Central Control
System." answered Reeve.
"Alright! You will lead the way when everyone arrives. We can't go down without your
guide." Cloud requested.
At this point Tifa, Barret, Vincent, Yuffie, Cid, Cait Sith and Red XIII all came all
came, depression was expressed on their face.
"Whats the big rush!!?? I can't get enough sleep now!" Yuffie complained.
"We could in comfy beds at this moment, but you dragged us out!" Cait Sith complained
also along with some murmur from Cid.
"Shut up all of you! Cloud will have his reasons for calling us out so early in the
morning. So, now what is the problem?" Red XIII comforted the others and asked.
Cloud quickly explained the situation they are in. Soon, his mates know how dangerous
the situation was.
"So now, get back to the tent and get your equipments. Remember to bring the materias
also! Reeve, meet at the entrance to Shinra HQ before 9 o'clock." Cloud ordered.
Everybody head back to their tent to get the equipments and materias. Cloud uncovers
Ultima Weapon which is wrapped by a piece of cloth. He thought he never had to use it
again after he have finished Jenova Synthesis and Sephiroth. Now he will have to, to
prevent them from reviving. Cloud picked up his materia bag and inserted Fire-All,
Cure-All, Barrier, Heal, Contain and Exit on his Bangle. He walked out and saw the
others were out there already, with a few visitors. Cloud only recognised one of them,
Welson.
"Cloud, I just heard what happened from your mates. I can lend you a hand if you
like." offered Welson.
"We seriously need your help. Welson, do you have anyone in your rescue team that know
how to operate a computer and also know how to reconstruct it?" asked Cloud.
"We have two right person in the rescue team that suits your needs. I will get them to
you infront of the Shinra HQ entrance. I'll see you there." said Welson as he walks away.
Cloud led his group to the center of Midgar as soon as Welson had left. His eyebrows
are tightly clutched together, that feeling appeared again. As soon as he saw Welson when
he came out of the tent, that feeling striked his mind. He still can't tell why he have
this feeling. He had this feeling also when he saw the blue caped man and her, Aeris. But
it is not the time to think about it now, he thought. Now he have to concentrate on
preventing the revive of Jenova and Sephiroth.
He and his mates crossed the junk hill and saw Reeve, Welson and two unknown people
were already there. Cloud walked down the hill to greet them.
"Cloud, I want you to meet Chris, the computer expert, and Finoa, the computer
recontruction professional. Them two will assist us to find the secret lab." Welson said
as he introduced the two other people.
"Alright, since everyone is here, lets go find the Central Control System. I will lead
the way." Reeve said as he went through the crack for the Shinra HQ entrance.
Cloud and others followed in through the crack. There it is, the entrance to the Shinra
HQ. Not much has changed since last time Cloud and others came, except for outer
appearance of the building changed, and the girl they were trying to save last time was
killed...He tried to get this out of his mind, he needs to concentrate on what he is
doing now. But he can't, a dash of a blue figure distracted him.
"That feeling...why do I keep on having them...? Why do it keep on appearing when I saw
anyone of them...? Aeris...Welson...and that mysterious blue caped man..."
Everybody went in, except for Cloud, still frozed there. Tifa turned around and saw
Cloud is not moving so she went over to see whats wrong.
"Whats wrong Cloud? Something bothering you?" Tifa asked.
"Nothing is wrong." Then Cloud gave that cold look to Tifa and went in.
Now Tifa frozed, she still don't understand why he is acting this way. She held her
tears and went in, following Cloud.
They all gathered in the main hall of the Shinra HQ. Fizzling wires, smashed models,
scattered documents, broken stairways, the internal parts of Shinra HQ look as bad as the
outside.
"Reeve, where's the way to the Sector Slums Centre Pillar?" Welson asked.
"It is over there, the Security Door in the far corner." Reeve replied as he walk
towards the Security Door in the far corner, everyone followed him. When he is infront of
the door, he took out the security pass and was about to let the scanner scan it. To his
surprise, the scanner was already smashed and the door was opened. He felt weird about
this, but since the door is opened, he led the others in. In this room, there's a couple
broken computers on the ground and a few cracked up monitor screens on the wall. A metal
trap door is in the corner.
"There it is, the way that gives the access to the Sector Slums Centre Pillar. Lets go
down." Reeve said as he slides open the trap door and climbed the ladder down.
The rest followed.
The atmosphere down there is humid, and also very quiet. None of those fizzling sound
or machinery at work sounds like the above levels. Under the dim light, they can see rows
of computers and working desks. Most of them were confused that why there were
electricity down here.
"I know most of you wonder why there is still electricity down here when Midgar was
mostly destroyed. In fact, the Sector Slums Centre Pillar is most important part of
Midgar. This place is where all class of SOLDIER gets trained and recieve their missions.
It is virtually where they live. Because this place is so important, it got its own small
Mako reactor down here. But the small Mako Reactor does not store alot of Mako as most of
the time it uses the 8 Main Reactor. Now lets get back to what we are looking. Midgar
Shinra Building Central Contral System is about 5 floors below. Lets get going."
explained Reeve.
Reeve then led Cloud and others to the elevator. After passing through rows of desks
and computers, they have reached a huge elevator.
"Here it is, the elevator. Think it still be able to work under that amount of Mako
Energy in the small reactor." Reeve guessed.
All of them entered the elevator, but to their surprise, it didn't have enough power to
move it. So they end up taking the stairway.

Final Fantasy 7: The Return of the Crisis

Chapter 5: Infiltrating

Reeve, Cloud and the others walk down the stair in the far corner. They passed through
floor by floor, SOLDIER Training Grounds, SOLDIER Cabin, First Aid Centre, SOLDIER Squad
Launching Centre, Equipment Supply Depot, Food Supply Depot. Cloud was amazed that there
is so much different section down here that he never known. A voice went on his mind,
'Of course you don't know, you never joined SOLDIER...'. Cloud stopped, that voice, so
familiar... Before he can think about it, it came again, 'You didn't make it because you
are not good enough...'. Cloud held his head, the headache that he haven't had ever
since he killed Sephiroth appeared again. He stood there, holding his head and at the
same time, doing low groans. This went on for several minutes, until Cloud was totally
calmed down. The horrible past memories ravaged through his head for all this time. He
lift up his stressful face and saw the others walked into a large room. He stumbles
forward and followed in.
Inside, there's a huge computer in the middle with some other normal copumters linked
to it. He saw the others were gathering around the huge computer so he went closer. The
huge computer were half smashed, still fizzling with left over electricity. Cloud saw
the other's eyebrows were tightly clutched together, so he knew that things were not too
good.
"Whats wrong with the Central Control System?" Cloud asked Finoa, worried that they
can't retrieve the information they wanted.
"Well, looks like most the cables connecting the Central Control System were destroyed
and the main board is half wrecked. It will take some time to fix it." answered Finoa as
she wiped off the sweat on her forehead.
"How long does it take?? We haven't got much time before the mutation start! Is there
any alternate way?" Cloud continued asking, still not giving up.
"Accessing all the cabled computer might help, but only if someone has proccessed the
building data in the last few days. If so, some of the data will still be stored on the
cabled computer. Give those computers a try while I try to find a faster way to fix the
Central Control Computer." suggested Finoa, then she quickly moved her concentration on
fixing the main computer.
Cloud called the others to check up on the cabled computers to see if there was any
leftover information. Cloud personally walked towards to a computer in the corner. He
don't know why he wants to check that computer first, a mysterious power pushed him
towards that computer. He sat down on the chair infront of the computer and moved the
chair closer to it. Just as he was about to turn on the monitor, something has caught
his attention. A drop of blood, a drop of blood on the dusted table which it shouldn't
be there. He reaches forward to touch it, a strange command give in his mind that made
him do so. As soon as he touched that drop of blood, a flow of electricty went into his
body. Cloud was stunned. Eventually, he can't see anything except for darkness. Nor he
could hear anything or say anything. He was like teleported into another dimension.
Pictures of past time showed up, like a slide show. All of the picture consists Aeris
and Cloud in it. The pictures showed the past time of how them two met, how they fought
together, the date they went on, and then finally a picture that Cloud would not want to
see again, how she was killed..... Then, everything returned to dark again. Gradually, a
faint light uncovered itself in the darkness, then a figure appeared in the faint light.
Cloud was shocked. That figure appeared to be Aeris! Cloud tried to open his mouth, but
unfortunately he can't. Aeris took a step forward and said, "Cloud, listen to me. You
got to hurry up. There's not much time left before you can stop Jenova and Sephiroth
from reviving. If you don't stop them in time, the world will be threatened for once
more. Farewell and good luck.....my beloved one." Cloud desperately wanted to move, but
no matter how hard he command his body to do so, he still can't move. He could only
watch Aeris leave in the faint glow of light, and unable to say anything to her.
"Cloud! Cloud! You alright there?" a series of calls brought Cloud back to reality. He
regained control of his body and fixed his eyes on the person who called his name.
"Chris? Oh, its you. I am fine here. I was just about to scan through the computer"
Cloud said as he turned on the monitor. The monitor begins to light up and showed some
pictures.Cloud and Chris all moved closer to see what it is showing. As the picture
begins to clear up, Cloud and Chris both cheered to what they saw. The monitor showed a
part if the ground level cross section of Midgar.
"Good! This computer recently have accessed the building system. All we need to do now
is to go to the full image of the ground level cross section of Midgar. Cloud, go call
the others to come and see." Chris said as he quickly worked his fingers on the
keyboard. Cloud went off to call the others here while he is doing this. By the time he
came back, Chris had the full image of the ground level cross section of Midgar on the
screen. Everyone gathered around the monitor and await Chris to show them the picture.
"I have just zoom out the picture previously seen on this computer into a better
vision of the Midgar. Even though I have looked through the whole ground level cross
section of Midgar, I can't seem to find the secret lab you guys are talking about."
Chris explained as he points to different areas of Midgar.
"Wait! Chris, zoom in to the lower parts of Midgar." Red XIII shouted as he noticed
something weird. Chris did what he said. Red XIII then pointed to a small section in the
grounds of Midgar, under the Sector Slums. "Enlarge that area, Chris." Red XIII
demanded. That area was enlarged and it showed a thin passage that stretched to the
outside undergrounds of Midgar.
"Where the hell does that passage lead to??" Cid questioned.
"No idea, the Central Control System only show buildings inside Midgar and buildings
100 metres outside Midgar. Anything outside that range, it won't be shown in the Central
Control System." Reeve answered and then he continued, "Chris can you get some
information on that area?"
"Sure, please be patient while I access the information from Building Record Drive."
Chris answered as he gets his hands back onto the keyboard and start working. A few
minutes later, he moved himself away from the screen and showed everyone. "There's the
information you want, Reeve."
Reeve moved closer to the computer screen which displayed the information of that area:
' Structure Name: FSD Zone
Code Name: CTSA0848
Structure Age: 29 years, 2 months and 6 days
Information: <Data Erased> '
"What!? The information on this FSD place was erased! How can we find information on it
then? Anyway, anyone here know or heard this place from before?" Barret asked the crowd
after he finished reading the monitor screen. Vincent was about to say something, but
after he gave a second thought, he decided not to say anything. Barret noticed, so he
asked, " Vincent, you got anything to say?"
"......nothing......." Vincent said coldly.
Barret can tell from Vincent's face that he knows something about FSD Zone just that he
don't want to say it. Barret knew that it's not the time to keep on asking as they don't
have much time left so he suggested, " Since we can't find the secret lab even if we
looked through the building layout of Midgar, I suggest that we just go through this FSD
Zone and see where the hell it will lead to. If we're lucky enough, FSD Zone will probably
lead to the secret lab."
"It's worth a try." agreed Welson, then he continued, "But, where is the entrance to
this place?"
"According to the blue print of the Sector Slums Centre Pillar I just accessed to, the
entrance to FSD Zone is behind one of the walls in the Security Office. The Security
Office is located down the far end of the walkway outside this room." Chris explained.
"Then what are we waiting for? Lets go!!" the always rushing Cid jumped up and raced out
of the room. The rest soon followed.
