Your thoughts right before you sleep?

So what do you think of as you're drifting away to sleep?

I've always been an insomniac so my mind tends to race with thoughts when I'm trying to sleep. I think about things that I need to do and things that I regret doing. Sometimes when I'm fed up with these thoughts I try to think up stories in my head. It helps me to sleep a little. But sometimes I get too excited and stay up all night thinking up stories.

Since i too have the problem of thinking about too many things resulting in me not sleeping i try not to think about anything.I simply imagine the color white or a white canvas.Not sure how else explain it xD.And i also keep repeating "Sleep...Sleep....Sleep".A few minutes later im off to dream land

I think about everything that has happened throughout the entire day and about my future, usually I end up stressing my self out to sleep because I think about things that worry me. Like work I should be doing at the last minute. >>;

Usually I think about the day ahead and what I have to do. I list off things like, "Okay, After I get up I have to do the laundry and keep that up hour after hour. Then I'll do such and such and so on." And that goes on until I get to the part where I go to sleep.
After all that is done, I just think about anything until I fall asleep.

my thoughts at night before going to sleep are: will i live to see tomorrow? or will i die in my sleep. they are all puzzling questions cause you never know when you are gonna die.

I never remember what it is I am thinking before I fall asleep. Probably something concerning my activities for the next day. Or maybe I'm just thinking about cake. Who knows???

I'll make a giant laundry list of activities "to do" in my head, and in what order I'll accomplish those duties.

It rarely works, though. But the list serves it's purpose. I'll awake the next day with a clear understanding of the tasks at hand.

Usually it's just a mental recap of my day, but if I've read something scary before bed then that bothers me until I go to sleep. I really need to quit doing that. :/

You all sound so tame to me. I seem so crazy reading this. I tend to think about the next day and what I'm going to wake up. I just wonder if I am prepared for what may happen. Sometimes my thoughts tend to get childish, such as what if there is a mad disease that turns people into mindless zombies and they attack...am I prepared. What if I find that I am the protector of the chosen one and wake up in some mysterious fantasy land. Then I have my normal ones. Which is about my wedding and everything. All the plans and stuff. hhahahahahaaha. lamest answer on the planet.

Well, first I think about all the different things that could be in my room and eat me while I'm not looking. This generally lasts at least an hour.
Then I think of what happened that day, and things that I should have done or said but didn't. Then I think about the different outcomes doing things differently could have caused, and then think of things I should do the next day.
I also have a tendency of thinking up random poems while I'm trying to go to sleep

On average, it takes me hours to actually fall asleep, I've never slept very well

The second my head hits the pillow I'm out. Seriously I don't recall any thoughts o_O I don't usually get in bed until I'm REALLY tired, so yeah :D

Sometimes however, I'll put my headphones in, in which case I will remain awake for a bit. In such cases I'll just go about my usual daydreaming. Which is usually about epic battles mentally choreographed to the music XD

It depends on what happened that day, what'll happen tomorrow, if I'm angry at someone, sad about something, stressed out, etc.

I usually think about the happenings and possibilities of life.

It all depends. Usually just about the day's events. But sometimes I think about what it would be like to be an anime character, and to live the life of some of my fav characters.

I try not to think before I sleep, but at times, I find myself thinking about not thinking. And so, I just clear my mind and sleep.

im insomiac so if i forgot to take my sleep aid its usually circling on me having to get to sleep or what just happened in a book i read prior...

it usually changes with my mood, when im in a good mood i usually focus on music or what just happened on tv, but when im down i usually think about why im down in the first place, which usually calms me down...

most of the time though i dont know what im thinking about prior to going to sleep, ive always wondered what i did think last night prior, its a total mystery to me xD

the only time i do remember is when im in a half asleep/awake state where i can still focus on my dreams, once i get up or open my eyes everything i dreamt about, whoosh, goes away xD

I always worry before I go to bed... like I mean about stuff I still have to do. Like especially during school time I just get stressed and think about what I still have to do. I go to a school that offers an International Business and Technology program and our work load is massive so it gets really irritating. So basically I don't get to sleep until like 2am every day and then i end up spending another 30 minutes in bed stressing about it.

Funnily, last night i spent an hour thinkin of what to post on AF or what could be there the next day to post on, if anyone gave me any rep etc, lately it has been that since i havnt been on these forums very long, but before that i use to go to sleep thinking about what anime i was gonna watch the next day, or the anime i currently watched on that day. Other then that, i think about how boring work is gonna be tommorow.
