I didn't thought about that. But still, if 5 procent will be immune you don't have such a good chance anyway. I think... it depends on how fast you run and for long you can keep that up I guess..

If the virus doesn't work (you won't know if it works on you or not!) then why would you want to kick a zombie? The part if it that will be closest to you is its mouth and do you really want to place you foot near that area and risk to be bitten? If you get bitten then maybe you will catch the virus! Didn't think this threw, huh?

Yeah, in every disaster there really are scenarios in which there is nothing you can do, but for those instances where something can be done, it is good to be prepared.

1) No animal or human really wants to walk all those damn hills to get to the house
2) There are so many steps!
3) The way the staircase is, you could get them before their mouth was in reach of you! xD

Maybe the schools can start to give the kids survival exercise during their gymnastic-lessons like martial arts, Kung Fu and such? That would be a good way to know how to deal with the zombies when they come - but without getting close to their teeth. Attachment 43841

As a theoretical physicist, I do believe so long as I have a crowbar I will be alright.

As I can see, the speed of zombies in movies has increased... Like.. in Dawn Of The Dead (1978) they could barely crawl, and in Day of the Dead (2008) they're moving like 10 times faster..
So if you put it this way.. the speed of the zombies increases each year o.o so you wouldn't be able to run away anymore (in case you would have to, if you won't have any weapons).. and if you're still following, the zombies would reach supersonic speeds close to the year 2069..
so: v= 0,04*(x – 1978)2 + 5 (v=velocity in km/h and x=years)

In the year 521593, they'll reach the speed of light and conquer our galaxy (which is 100000 light years)!!! And after that they'll start with the solar systems which are nearby! x.x

If the Dependency is not parabolic, then it's gonna be: v= 1/(-0,96*ln(x) + 68,92)

Which says that the speed of the zombies will be unlimited in the year 2012!!! o.o

The crowbar is yet another flawed concept.
Why?
The best way to land a crowbar onto the head of a zombie is to strike overhand. That is, the crowbar goes in an arc vertically over yourself and vertically down on the Zombie's head. Now the problem with this is that it almost forces you to pull the Zombie's body towards you. You might think that's alright because the Zombie is dead anyway, but there is always a chance that a Zombie could survive the first blow. There have been cases of people being shot in the head and surviving. In the case of a Zombie, that Zombie may still be combat effective.
By pulling the Zombie towards you to take out the crowbar, you're exposing yourself to danger of being bitten.
Or if the Zombie disease is fluid borne, and can be transmitted to you if you drink any of it, or if it gets in contact with an open wound, this will also be a problem because by pulling the Zombie towards you, you will soon be covered in Zombie fluid.
So that's why crowbars are actually not a smart idea.

Depends on the type of Zombie. In Night of the Living Dead the zombies we're very much hurt and afraid of fire.

No one knows what type of combat is required because it's NOT REAL. Heck in my imagination I can defeat them with rainbows and call that legit.

Behold, the ultimate Zombie fighting rifle.
It's an M-4 refitted with an integral suppressor.
It mounts an M7 bayonet. Yeah I know it's retro but it is more suitable for Zombie killing than the more current M9 bayonet.

The crowbar, if I'm not mistaken, is a reference to the Half-Life series.

I don't have a specific plan. I guess I'd barricade the door and eat what I have. I have a lot of rice and beans, because I believe in being prepared. Not so much for the apocalypse, but in case I lost my job. I'd have something to eat for a few weeks while I scrimped and searched for a new job.

Anyway, I'd barricade the door and I live on the second floor so they'd not be able to reach the window for a while.

I wouldn't expect to outlive the apocalypse...only to live somewhat comfortably until it was clear my time was up.

This goes for any disaster or apocalyptic scenario, really.

I'd pick the AK 47 series weapons but the following disqualified it.
- heavy ammo (so you can't carry as much)
- ammo not common in North America

Movies feature some weird weapons that aren't going to serve you well.
Yeah Half Life crowbar lol. It's no fun when your crowbar just won't get unstuck.

I have lots of friends obsessed with the zombie apocalypse. But I have not read the survival kit yet. But without reading the guide, my list has always been:
Vehicle: Hummer, a school bus, and a bulldozer [for slower zombies] . all shock absorbing windows, spiked wheels, and bumpers, zombie tracking device technology in the high tech hummer.
Weapon: most in the bus. And a variety of gun power, flame throwers, daggers, swords, spears and axes. etc
And living friends to either drive, shoot, or tell us what and where to do/go

I'm working on a "US Army Field Manual" about counter-Zombie operations. It's not official but it looks and reads just like the real thing.
I didn't make a Marine one since I figured the Marine Corps doesn't have the money for a Zombie Combat School or anything of that sort.
It won't be 100% suitable for civilians but it should be amusing. Depending on how popular it gets, I might make a reference pocket book for civilians

Once you do, you'll realize what parts of your plans you should revise. Remember that in the initial phases of a Zombie outbreak and emergency, mass panic will lead to all roads being clogged. You won't get anywhere in a vehicle. Everything is on foot or air.

If worse came to worse, I'd simply blow myself up, taking along any zombies arrogant enough to believe they could sink their teeth into my flesh and get away unscathed.

Though I have to say you sound more appealing to the zombies than myself. You know how it's always the one talking about how someone else will be the next target instead of themselves that always manages to get himself/herself killed. It's the cruel, cruel cycle of cheesy zombie karma, and there isn't any getting around it.
