Anyways on-topic: What is this anime about, anyway? And this is a long-shot, but does it bear any similarities to Soul Eater? I'm not saying it's a bad thing if it isn't, but I've been a little short on good anime to watch recently so if this is as interesting as people claim, it may be something for me to look into.

Naaaaaaaaaaaaah I wouldn't say it's like Soul Eater. Maybe the humor a bit but... hm. I like this anime you should watch it.
The show is about

 

A boy who's "dad" is killed by satan. Then he discovers that the dad that died acutally isn't his real dad but he is the son of satan. He starts in a school to become an excorsist to learn how to take his revange and kill satan. But he has to hide his "true identety" (son of satan) because the other excorsists would try to kill him if they found out.

Has anyone seen this? Telling by my username, you could say im a hardcore fan of rin and also the while of the anime. : ) what's your fave character, what do you think about the story.?

I have seen some episodes of it, are planning to jump into that show soon again since it was awhile since I saw it. Rin and Mephisto is my favorites characeters. I guess Rin is one of them because he is the main character and then you usually like them and Mephisto I like because he is so random. xD He is my top favorite in that serie. He is funny, but with an evil twist to it. Judging by your picture I guess your favorite character is Rin?

I have read all of the manga so far, I'm not sure if its released monthly or fortnightly but new chapters take a long time to come out for only ~20 pages.
I've only seen ~10 episodes of the anime, does the story start to deviate from the manga?
It's still to early for me to form a solid opinion on it but I really enjoyed the first few episodes, hopefully it continues that way.

Is the manga very different from the anime? Is it better / worse? (you have seen more episodes then me in the anime) xD What is your judging this far? :P Maybe it's the same up to the 10h episode atleast?

It seems that the episodes after the 10th one are all fillers to let the manga go further in the storyline. I'm not sure if its the translators or the mangaka but the chapters are released at a very slow pace.
I would rate the manga pretty high for this year. I prefer anime over manga though since its a bias I have. The beginning of the story in both the manga and anime is very intense and involving. However, the latest chapters have been pretty slow in my opinion. The focus suddenly shifted from Rin dealing with keeping his secret a secret to everyone combating the Impure King. Hopefully it's only a minor bump in the story and it will go back to Rin and Satan.

I heard they were only intending to have this be a 26 episode series, so hopefully we wont get trapped in filler hell :3 I really like it, and will start the manga soon. Just up to date on the anime atm.

Aww man.. How I hate fillers... I hated it in Naruto.. I hated it in Bleach.. And garenteed I'll hate it again... D:

Ao no Exorcist was good, I had no problems with the fillers. However I'm dissapointed how the last episode was really rushed. Everything could have been split into two or even three episodes. I felt like the anime had lost its pace all of a sudden.

 

They don't even show the process of Yukio choosing to side with the grandfather, then next thing you know.. they're executing Rin? -_-

Don't get me wrong. I love the anime.. but that last episode..

The last episode was good imo.

 

Yukio unlocked his demon powers,and at the end,where the gate was taking all,they found a way to destroy it.C is better imo opinion though,wish there was a episode 12 atleast.

Just you watch, there's gonna be another version/season of AoEx, just like Fullmetal Alchemist, that will stay more true to the original manga. After all, this past version ended way too differently from the manga's storyline.

It is pretty good until last few episodes when it is a bit rush. Let's hope the movie will impress us.
