Personally, I am so disappointed by the general art style and rendering of the new pokemon, I'm just not going to buy the new games.
Which is saying a lot considering I've been playing pokemon hard-core for past 12 years....

Wouldn't that be the same as saying HeartGold and SoulSilver are cheap remakes off of Gold and Silver?

I think he's talking about the pig. It does remind me a bit of the fire Pokemon from Gold and Silver.
Because the art style is lacking in so many categories that calling it Pokemon is like calling teletubbies neopets.
No, because they weren't cheap and they were just as fun as the originals, if not more so~
Um, I can point out many flubs in the Pokemon art styles in past games. And they only remade the games for the money. That's pretty cheap to me. Don't get me wrong, I buy remakes but I consider any remakes cheap. It's time and money that could have been spent towards a new game.

Pokemon has never and will never be about artstyle. It's little sprites fighting each other. I never played the original Gold or Silver, so my nostalgia is severely lacking.
Oh yeah. I forgot that since they changed the art styles on every Zelda that they're rip offs too...and the Mario games too...and Metroid...and every other sequel as well. So do I really need to keep going? Honestly, to me it sounds like either:
A. You have a grudge against Pokemon for whatever reason.
B. You're trying to be that guy who says he hates pokemon so much, and gives rather bad reasons, because his friends do the same.

I'm not sating that they spent more money on HG or SS, simply that it was a better remake than others. I value the art style of the pokemon just as much the actual gameplay~
I love pokemon, I know so much about it that it's implemented in many of my analogies and comparisons. Oh and just an FYI I haven't played mario, or metroid.
Besides I like the art styles of Zelda, of course some of the music makes me want to strangle people..

The funny thing is, the "art style" hasn't been the same on any pokemon games... Except their counterparts of course.
Well there are similarities, but you are correct. I simply find that this "new" one is flamboyantly hideous.

Platinum was more oriented towards hard-core Pokemon gamers, whereas Gold and Silver was obviously made for the kids. I'm hoping this version will continue on the same track as the Platinum version.

I always thought all pokemon games were made for the casual gamer? And the many many fanboys/fangirls as well.
PKMN Black/White would be a rather risky installment..

I have a posse of level 50 Bidoof slaves in Pokemon Pearl. They are the awesomest pokemon ever. They break your rocks AND they swim for you. If they gave Bidoof wings, it'd be the perfect pokemon.
Agreed. While some elements of the game have been kept in place for the sake of the "hardcore" Pokemon gamer, ALL Pokemon games are oriented towards kids, even the director's cut versions such as Platinum. Its Pokemon, for crying out loud.

Well, you'll notice I said "more oriented", as in relatively more oriented towards gamers as compared to Gold and Silver. A game can be made mainly for the casual gamer and still have more aspects that appeal to hard-core gamers than another title in the series. I wasn't suggesting that Platinum was exculsively made for gamers, as you seem to suggest I somehow said, nor that "all pokemon games" were not made for the casual gamer. I apologize if my wording was misleading.

I still don't really understand how it was more orientated towards hardcore gamers than hg/ss was. I figured that since HG/SS were twice as long as Platinum, that it would attract more hardcore gamers. Then again, I never played Platinum so I have no clue.
