The scariest game I've played? Probably the indie point-and-click adventure game The White Chamber. Right behind that are the Chzo Mythos games.

Somehow I don't find ANY games scary. And no schok-effects douesn't count as 'horror' to be honest. So none ... Though I really like the mood in the Siren series.

Of course Silent Hill 4 The Room. I have some of the most horrible game experience with this one. Rest horror stuff i can play still but this game , affects my mind sometimes -_-" ... ..great game , i love every part of it still. ^_^;;;

Silent Hill 1's graphics , that heavy fog , and the way that radio starts when a monster is around ..... hell ... =_=

Some parts of Resident Evil 4 scared me a lot for example , Regenerator parts. When you shoot that thing on its legs and when they are gone , you think its gonna stay there on the ground BUT , it jumps towards you. *screams*....... and the voice of that thing is so so so unforgettable. *__*

Forbidden Siren is also in this list but not more than Silent Hill 4 -_-
Somehow i am still playing it anyways.

It would have to be the Silent Hill series but Kuon is also a scary game! Sadly it's very underrated. The Path a indie game is just creepy but not graphic.

Thief III gets my vote. Overall, the game isn't that scary. But there is one level that is scary as hell: The Shalebridge Cradle. It is without a doubt the scariest thing I've ever experienced in any game.

I gotta chime in with Silent Hill 2. I love horror games to death, and thats just my all time favorite. It was brilliant, unsettling, and twisted in all the good ways a silent hill game should be.

I'm kind of surprised people find Siren: Blood Curse scary. I was too busy being angry at the framerate drops when the game goes into split screen and stuff. It was kind of scary to play as the little girl though since you cant fight back. The final dash to the exit in that mission was INSANE! i literally had to run right past the black guy's legs.

once you learn how to kill shibito bare-handed the scares really go away though =/

i would also have to say all the Resident evil games befor 4 and 5

the zombies were slow and moaned and u never knew were thay were at and i turn a corner...then...*screams..gunshots*...dammit >.<..i died =_=

it would take me 10 minutes jus to walk through one door i would jus sit there and pause the game and be terrified as to wat is behind the door =___=,i never played a silent hill game....i dont want to..i may never be the same again if i do

The sounds they make, the way their bodies shake. Also the funny way the regenerators twitch. Resident Evil 5 makes me laugh even harder with how buff chris is and some of the things they yell at you and how fun it is when you get a rocket launcher and just blow them to bits as if nothing was their. It all just makes me laugh. xD Every single Resident evil.

I agree with the poster saying RE games make them laugh. The older RE games had scary atmosphere but even then there were things that made you giggle. One time in RE2 i shotgunned a zombie and he broke in half at the waist. His legs kept walking and his torso dragged itself toward me. I loled so hard and then killed him

The newer RE games are full of laughs. RE5 was a total blast in that regard. It inspired constant streams of racist and gross jokes between me and my co-op partner. Absolutely hilarious

Currently playing the new SIlent Hill on Wii. Its very very good, even if the chase sequences are pure suck.

I also would like to nominate Condemned 2: Bloodshot. Its the scarriest game so far for this generation of consoles in my opinion (granted i havent played the new Fatal Frame since its only in Japan). Dead Space was a total joke. I got bored and traded it in.

Condemned 2 is a must play for horror game fans i think. Skip the first game (it sucks and they catch you up on the story anyway). There's just something absolutely magical about beating a man to death using your bare hands in first person view. That game is brutal, scary, and very very fun

Sounds weird, but i really have to say: Tomb Raider 3! That's the freaking SCARIEST game i ever played, especially in a dark room with below average contrast of the screen!
