Just read this article on social media and find it to be rather sad. And it just goes to show how dependent we'll be on technology in the future. Not just for everyday life but validation on a social, and quite possibly personal, level. I really hope this doesn't turn out to be the case.

Its funny that I can completely relate to this because I have two younger sisters. My parents don't let them go out and socialize out in the public, well... hardly. For whatever reason. Instead, my mother would give them chores to do such as (and what I really say) cleaning up the clean house. :/ I can show you what our place looks like, and maybe you tell me if our place needs more cleaning. lol But thats how my mother is and I've been growing up in that kind of life like that. What do they do when my sisters are finished? They play in the computer, text, etc. They asked a few times to hang out with their friends, unfortunately, they say no or come up with some silly reason. So they are kind of bound in that digital world and do things there. So my mother gets irritated by that and tell them to get off and do other things. So, they "do other things", my mother disapproves and basically takes away some of their freedom and make them do more unnecessary chores such as "cleaning the clean house".

How do I feel? I feel kind of bad about it, I actually hate being online and be bound with some phone and computer with me. I'm not sure how they're living at home, but what I know is that from me, my parents don't let my younger sisters so much things. The moment they do something else, its still not good and they'll say no followed by a weird reason. I mean, if you hate your kid so much being in the computer, why not stop being too much of a parent and be a friend and allow your kid to have a bit of fun? o_o Even if it means to make them go out a little more and not expose too much of whatever they do. I can just say: put limit. Not too little but not too much either on everything. That goes the same with my sisters and those kids, too.

Funny to say, I tell my ideas and I get a dirty look from my mother. Like she wants to rip my face off.

Wow, I'd say some people(girls) need a life, but that would be odd coming from someone who hasn't physically spoken to his friends in about two months. However, I don't go into a state of internet deprived panic when we loose the internet for a week.

It's quite disturbing that 13-14 year olds feel the need to get many likes for a photo, and get upset when it doesn't happen...
They should start to accept themself instead of depending on comments and likes from others. Because in the end, those comments and likes have no meaning whatsoever.

I don't find it that disturbing. It's just a shift nonconstructive behavior for analog means to digital means. Without Face Book, these girls would just spend more time gossiping on the phone, or cruising around town playing Justin Beiber full blast. Yes, that is what they would be doing if they were out "having a life" without the internet. If there is a real problem it'd be youth unemployment and the consequential excess free time.

Pathetic. My mom is addicted to facebook. She's laid off, but instead of trying to find a different job until one opens up, ehe sits on the computer 24/7. It makes me wanna punch her repeatedly screaming GET A LIFE NUB.

Sounds like my mum ... which is why I despise social networking sites: because when your mother goes downstairs and uses the landline phone to call someone 'to tell them to farm their pumpkins', you know it's gotten bad.

Why not take there camera's away from them and uninstall their webcam drivers.

I now everyone's picked up on this, but every quote was from little girls, the same little girls ruining the rest of our damn internet.
