Default Is this women's critique of anime correct.

Well I saw a woman's blog and she was saying that anime is catered to men and the women have overly sexualized bodies and wear skimpy clothes and the story lines are laughable.

I asked this on Yahoo answers and got 4 answers. 3 said it isn't true and one guy claimed that all the people that get into anime do it to perv on the ridiculously drawn women.

He said that the women have breasts larger than their torsos and also said that he hears people try to make the argument that anime have good plots and better than hollywood movie plots and claims it's BS and just an excuse to perv on women and that it's unhealthy.

How can people think this stuff? I watch Evangelion, Ghost in the Shell, and many others and to me they seem to have far better stories and are made on a more intellectual level than hollywood stuff.

Even Gurren Lagann I didn't watch it for Yoko (actually was busty) to perv on her. I though the story was awesome and wanted to keep seeing what was going to happen. I highly doubt the whole series was created just so people could perv on Yoko, sigh. Seems some ignorant people out there really believe this apparently.
I liked Final Fantasy games when I was younger, I guess according to most people I was just perving on the female characters and not really into the game itself. sigh

I think that many anime series have thing that we can learn from.

I asked about this on yahoo answers and two people agreed with her and then I explained but to no avail. According to them I bought and played Final Fantasy games when I was younger to perv on the female characters and that was the reason I played them.
    Same with legend of Zelda.

I can't believe that people actually think these things. Christ if I played games to perv on female characters surely there were far better games to choose from if that was my purpose. sigh.

Also in FFX there is a Rikku cinematic where she takes her gear off and those idiots claimed I only bought the game for that and they said that the developers make the women attractive to sell it.

I totally disagree, I didn't even know about that cinematic when I bought the game as I bought the game after I played the Demo and that wasn't in the Demo. Also I was never that much into Rikku anyway. Also as far as female characters being attractive, sure they are but they also make the male characters attractive also. I mean who would buy something if on the front cover they all looked like ugly retards.

But the reason most FF fans bought the games wasn't for the female characters or male characters but because they had played FF games before and knew they were in for a lot of fun and exploration and a cool story and I even liked the music. That's why I liked them anyway.
Same with The legend of Zelda. Pretty retarded to claim I played that to see the old low res Princess Zelda. lol.

THE ONLY GAME CREATED TO PERV ON FEMALE CHARACTERS IS DEAD OR ALIVE SERIES. It is pitiful.

Final Fantasy 13 all the female characters are fairly proportionate aside from the female villain. It is just bias and The same can be said with All female characters in Comic books they wear next to nothing and are seen more as a sex symbol. They are scantly clad in a uniform that sticks to their skin and shows off their curves.

I feel like you are in a transition of your life where you are questioning yourself and if you like anime for the right reasons. Don't second guess yourself. If you have to question something you enjoy then maybe your not enjoying it for the right reasons.

Not all of it but surely some is. I'll think about it while watching Eiken and get back to you later.
Anime is a lot like sex. Done right it's a beautiful act of creation that brings a little more light into the world. If it's sick and wrong... it's even better.

There's BL in some series. I suppose she thinks guys enjoy watching gay porn as well? (I can't judge if guys actually do because my friend is a girl and she likes yuri)

seems like a really stupid accusation to make. if guys only watch anime to perv on girls, then why do women buy magazines with half-naked women on the cover in suggestive poses?

Depends on what kind of anime it is. if it's shoujo anime, then it's mostly targeted to girls.

But a lot of anime with women with huge boobs ... yea, I would assume that is primarily drawn and watched by guys.

It all depends on what anime you are watching. Anime such as Evangelion and Ghost in the Shell are indeed very thought provoking and have been very influential in the anime world. However, these anime are also contain sexual imagery. You see a bunch of naked Reis at one point and Motoko barely wears pants. Sure, there is a reason for this, but that doesn't stop the fact that searching her name will most likely give you porn.

Shonen and seinen manga and anime is much more prolific in the West than shojo and josei stuff. Since shonen and seinen manga/anime is marketed towards males, females don't always get the best representation in them, if they get any at all. Dragon Ball barely features women at all. Bleach has a fair amount of females in it, but it is hard to argue the pervy factor when Tier was so scantily clan that she had to be censored, even in Japan. We all saw what happened to Nami's boobs after the time skip in One Piece. Hellsing gave us Sera Victoria, a "police girl" with big boobs who saw two man have sex with her mother's dead body. And in Dragonaut: The Resonance, while Garnet MacLaine is a major in the military and a powerful dragon, it doesn't stop the DVD featuring her from looking like this:

Sure, not all anime are like this. Lots of anime are very fun, thought-provoking, and even spiritual. It would be wrong to say that ALL anime feature scantily clad women and are just for pervs. However, there are popular and highly prolific shonen anime that feature women who look like this:

    This is my war face.

This is what happens to trolls who mess with me.
