Really, those signs of the end times seem to be all around us, no matter what era we are in! How is one supposed to know whether or not this is a false alarm?

I think that eventually, we'll catch up as a society here in the USA, and extend equal/civil rights to all good people, regardless of religion, sexual orientation, etc. We know that change doesn't come overnight, and it was shown to us by minorities and women that it is possible, but it takes perseverance, with just a little help from the Supreme Court.

Of course it'll happen! >_< Regardless of how hopeless it seems sometimes, so long as there are those who strive for a world where equal rights are given to all people, regardless of their sexual orientation and/or religion, people can still look up at the sky with hope and know that there are those that'll never give up in making the dream a reality.

My mother says the same thing, that these are the end times. I'm really curious about that. Like, can you point out what prophesies in the bible can be seen in society? I don't see anyone with the mark of the beast or anything like that.

Anyway, to stay on topic and in response to Kishiro, anyone who doesn't think gay marriage will be legalized is living in a dream world. It's only a matter of time. I'm just hoping that by the time I want to get married I'll have the option.

Anyone who wants to be married, regardless of sexual orientation, certainly has that right. Just keep in mind that you should never give up that wish, and you'll always have friends who'll help you even when things seem hopeless.

Marriage has, and always will be a business contract. Forget love, forget emotions, forget everything. It is a piece of paper that bonds two beings - an agreement that they will be together. And this agreement also reaps the benefit of allowing both parties to pay less taxes.

Science helps at times, and the rules of the Christians keep people in a certain line, But when someone feels something for someone they should be able to express it, that is my opinion. And I have a feeling that most of the people in the states that haven't voted yes to gay marriage aren't going to except us who aren't the same as those who are completely straight. We are in the land of the free and yet most of the things are being taken away, not fully taken away but little by little our rights are going to be gone, poof, vanished with who we are. Honestly, the federal government should protect that, but politicians for the most part are primarily concerned with their approval ratings. Until most of the union approves of gay marriage, it won't be addressed in federal law. So unfortunately this slow process of state by state ratification is necessary.

True, they are trying but I doubt it will be approved in a lot of states. And approval rating is just making those of us who aren't approved of pulled down into nothingness, making us feel like we are not what we want to be. I would love to get married one day, whether it be a guy or a girl, as long as I am in love with that person I want the right to wed. What if they decided that everyone was to have one religion in the US? Everyone who wasn't the right religion would go into a out burst.

It does make some sense in the light of Senator McCarty's shenanigans back in those days. Anyone who didn't portray a very politically correct and one sided view of the world was a communist and ended up blacklisted. And media are after all the chroniclers of our history nowadays. That, combined with some good old fashion denial, and it's only natural it's going to have the effect of censoring out how people were living in terror and paranoia about communism and the impending nuclear holocaust.

1) Marriage isn't owned by one religion. It isn't owned by ANY religion actually. It is a cultural ritual. I mean, duh, haven't you noticed that: marriages are done differently depending on where it takes place, not what religion it's being performed under. So the whole sanctity of marriage bull crap is invalid.

2) It is none of your damn business what people do in their own personal lives. Someone getting married somewhere isn't going to effect you directly. Not even a little bit. Why on earth would you give a damn about something that has NOTHING, absolutely NOTHING to do with you?

3) Getting away from marriage here: Love is love. Seriously. Love doesn't recognize gender. It is a feeling. A personal feeling that anyone can feel for anyone else. If someone happens to have that feeling for someone of the same gender, again, none of your damn business.

Though you bring up good points, you still can't swear, censored or not. But you're an anthropology major and you should know that over 80% of the world allows gay marriage. It's not a big deal, it's not like they're hurting anyone. And on another point, most heterosexual couples have stopped getting married; it is steadily declining and now it's more common to see people living together but not getting married. (even some have children together). So I don't see why heterosexual people are against gay marriage (and I say heterosexuals because I doubt that a vast amount of gay people are against it)

Just, because a place is rural, does not make it conservative. I live in Minnesota, right above it, and Iowa has a lot of openminded people, especially of the younger generation, even though the population is not high. I know for a fact that Iowa has a lot of good basketball players, and a lot of very good art colleges and schools. I was actually thinking of moving to Iowa for college. I think of all of the people that are moving to Iowa and the generation of openminded people living there , that it's the main reason why gay marriage has been legalized.
